John answered the reflash and delaer detect question eloquently, so I don't need to address that one.

As far as the piggy-back goes, we are working on a plug to keep from having to splice into the ECU harness. Until that happens, it really isn't ready for the market - and since we have a solution as simple as flashing that works, I don't feel the need to pursue it with the same dagged determination as before.

>>I did this at the dealer, and a very friendly mechanic let me watch. He knew I had the evo in there, but could find no evidence of it; furthermore, it hadn't tripped the ecu upgrade counter, and if I hadn't told him, he would not have seen it. Re-flashing the firmware totally erased the Evo mod however.

Hrm, non-detectable by the dealer is good, having it possibly overwritten is bad. Since dealers will sometime upgrade the firmware without your knowledge you'd be forced to tell them or forced to pay the "minimum charge." Any ideas what this minimum charge is? Considering one must pony up $750 for the ECU flash in the first place any extra cash outlay is asking a little much.
