Drivetrain Help with magnecor spark plug wires....

No need to get special plugs with Magnecor red 8.5mm wires. The only caveat I would give you is that as the spark from the coil will lose less in transmission, the gap setting on your plugs is good to check to "maximize" spark. The wires are an easy install, just do so with a COLD engine, as heat will cause expansion in the plug tips. I seem to run about 200 RPM less at 70 MPH with the Magnecors. A bit more efficient use of available HP and fuel.

huh? ... the relationship between engine speed and road speed can't vary - it's a mechanical thing ... with more power or less power, or being more or less efficient,
the gearing controls rpm/mph and that won't change ...

>>Yeah, maybe, but the guy has an S....How could wires change RPMs
Good call.
It seems that people want soo much to get something for their money that they imagine
all kinds of improvements that probably are not there if you do a proper scientific experiment.
My opinion is that plug wires are in this category for a machine like the MINI.

Seat of pants analysis, probably is my justification for $$$ spent in plug wires. Old wires in great condition, as only difference one of diameter, moving from 5mm to 8.5mm. No change in throttle body, air intake, exhaust yet. Maybe only my oxygen sensor knows if there has been any real change.

>>If ya want purty colored wires go for magnacore or whatever but otherwise save your $$$ for something else.... I might change mine but only when the OEM wires are toast.... and even then only if the aftermarket ones are cheaper....
I do want purty colored wires. In fact, the only reason I am getting them is for engine dress up purposes. I never thought it would give me an increase in performance. I have an exhaust and intake for that.

I don't know, but I have both 6 volt and 12 volt battery water.
Also for sale is 100 feet of shorline.

I think you should also have a spare set of Ge-Ge pins, you never know when they might come in handy
