Bad luck after M7 2%!

I just posted a little while ago about how much I like my new M7 2% crank pulley and now 2 hours later I'm pissed. My girlfirend and I were driving the Mini in the 45F weather and the car was pulling super hard. I have been getting the SES light a couple times a day because of the new BYpass Valve creating 1psi more. Now with the 2% pulley the car is shuting down and I lost my power steering and the volt meter is reading low. Did I over spin my altenator and steering pump??? What happend? I drove to my work very slowly in the should lane but the car kept turning off and both the SEC light and EMI light kept coming on. I'm freaking out about the not having power steering. Can I take it to the dealer with this new pulley, is there something I can do from home?
Thanks guys, this car is draining me and my girlfriend wants me to sell it. She is sick of it.
M

I'm sorry about the car Mario. I have no advice about what might be wrong, but if your g/f wants you to dump the car, tell that bit*h she's crazy!

Thanks Bro, I won't sell my baby. BTW I love you car. Tomorrow is a new day and maybe things will get better. I will take some sleeping pills tonight so I won't have to think.

ground cable, passenger side, not making good contact.

also, the EML could be from something like a TPS sensor.

I'd put my money in a bad ground somewhere.

Where is the ground wire located exactly? I hope you are right.

Maybe you didn't connect the bypass valve correctly/tightly as I read in your post that it's new?

***** happens, but don't take it out on the car mate! Can you imagine how silly you'd feel if it was just a loose connection?

Might check your bypass valve too...https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ght=power+loss

Ground is just to left of the intercooler and down a bit.

The main engine ground on the frame to the engine mount.

its the ground for the starter and the alternator at the least, i'm nt sure about the PS pump.

WHen mine had corrosion on it, i wasnt charging (12-13 volts constant) and it was very hard to start.

Thanks guys, I'm hoping it is the ground, because all of that was removed during the install today. I don't think it is the BPV because I installed that and i made sure it was very secure. The power steering and low volts are my main concern

.. and I think the power steering pump is electric, so the 2% pulley didn't brake it. More likely due to the low voltage from the altanator. 2% more revs there shouldn't be a problem there either, unless it was already on it's way to the grave.

It also could be the PS pump gone bad.... The PS fan can take it out if it hits the crapper.....

may not be the same problem but ......

My battery wouldn't start car / lost my power steering / all waring lights went on and had it taken to the dealer. They replaced the battery and alternator - "under warranty"!

Below is my sig and they saw it all and still warrantied the parts.

I would check the ground, like alot of people are saying, then I would take it back to whoever messed with your car. It was obviosuly a job not done right. I'm sure they will debug and fix it without charge.

p.s. Forgot to wish you goodluck.

Also... don't sell the car, sell the gf. (Alot of us MINI owners have been there, gf jealousy over MINI that is)

She's just jealous thats all. The trick is to pay equal attention to the gf, that you pay to the car.

Suggest you pick-up a bedroom MOD and go crazy . She will sleep more, giving you more time to spend with the car. If you need more info PM me

Both you and CamelPilot are wrong. You just by the GF (wife in my case) a Mini. That way they learn to keep their trap shut if they want any mods done to their ride.

Maybe the 2% pulley isn't quite tight enough and is slipping on the crankshaft not spinning fast enough? There's always that possibility, just a thought anyway.

Thanks guys for the laughs. I just got to work and checked out the Mini, The 8" long ground wire seemed very tight. Not sure what to check now. I started the car and is idled kind of rough, also the volt meter is still low, the red battery light is on and still no power steering. The guy that installed it is 50miles away and the dealer is 45 miles. I had a hard time just driving 3 miles last night. BTW I still haven't spoken to my girlfriend.
