Anti-seize for high temp applications. With lockwashers (preferably stainless), we should be all good. Time for a trip to Home Depot...

And I got zinc plated washers to match the zinc plated bolts.

I understand that, but after it gets up to temp, the WD just evaps. I don't see it being the cause of the bolt loosening up.

PLUS, I just like giving you a hard time

Thanks, just wondering.

Tried that with no luck after it wouldn't go in the first time, I will try again.

Spritz some WD-40 in there (requires that you back everything out) and then you'll be able to tighten it down all the way.

Only the edge of the heim joint touches the block. If it does rust up, a gently love tap with a rubber mallet will loosen it up right away. No need to worry about anything seizing up.

Anti-seize. It's silver, doesn't evaporate (or carbonize ike grease will) in high temps, and works great on anything attached to an engine block (spark plugs come to mind...). Use surgical gloves when installing and your hands won't even get dirty. Light coating.

hd05 has a '06 MCS, so he won't need the bracket setup, therefore the damper won't be in the way if he installs a catch can in the frame area.

I just changed my oil a week ago and simply detached the can and unscrewed the bolt on the underside of it and emptied out a whole bunch o' oil.

Very easy to do yourself.

And right you are Partsman - I did not check what year his car was.

Thanks.

Hi Folks,

Silly question but just wondering if dampening one side of the engine would place any additional stress on the other side.

It's not a silly question. Having the damper reduced engine movement in total so I don't think it will transfer any addition stress to the other side as the damper absorbs most of the energy put to it...which is why you put a damper there in the first place.

I got one off eBay for $35 shipped and had to buy $5 worth of hose (since the ones that came with it were crappy).

I just might have to start a group buy on those..... Hm......

I thought I'd share with you guys what I just shared with Shoe. It's an excerpt from a pm I sent to him on the damper. I hope I am not breaking any rules. This was after about a month of use.

As far as how I feel about it? I think it has been the best $ (I forgot how much plus shipping) I've spent. The change in the response of the car was immidiate. Throttle response was improved dramasticly or at least it felt like it. The engine felt solidly connected to the rest of the car. It feels alot smoother at take off and into the whole rev range. It just makes the car feel solid. There is less jerking when releasing the throttle when at high RPM's for a shift. As far as more pronounced feel of engine movement through the steering column and the rest of the car that everyone else seems to feel, I actaully feel less. It made me wonder if I may have had a bad engine mount, but I've looked and I don't.

The damper has made a great improvement to the general feel of the car.

OK, so I read through this entire thread, and am impressed by all the reviews from "S" owners. But unless I missed something, I haven't seen anything from Cooper owners. I'm thinking of putting this on my Xmas list, but want to know how much of a difference this will make on an MC. Any impressions from Cooper owners?
