I've done it a couple of times with just the needle nose pliers and let's just say with the stubby you don't pinch your skin or curse even 1/10th as much.

It makes your life a lot easier. You never know when you'll need the stubby wrench in the future! I went out and bought both an SAE and a metric set. Just in case.

Yeah, you just have to keep the nut from turning but with the stubby it's a lot more effective in cranking the nut down fully. You can't do that with the needle nose. Plus I used an extra long angled needle nose which most people won't have.

Do yourself a favor and get the stubby metric set.

Nice. I have a very basic set just like the Craftsman.

The griots mini gearless socket wrenchs are nice too but expensive!

(But then again so is almost everything from Griots - I like their stuff though, especially the hose nozzle)

 

All this talk makes me want to install my Damper already, but its in the mail, so I'll have to wait a little more

very simple and inexpensive mod for your car worth every penny.

 

i was under the impression that our windows roll down automatically if the 'unlock' button on our key is pressed down for more than several seconds. didn't actually tried it myself due to a bad experience i had with my GS300 which came with the same function.
i press and held the unlock button for about 5 seconds and all the windows starting rolling down . i was impressed but shortly after my new GS300 was not working . couldn't started, called the dealer and they had to bring in a flat bed to move it but thanks to an experience tow trucker, he simply disconnected the battery and wowla, everything was back to normal.
due to this bad experience, i am a little hesitant to try it on my mini. i thank you for sharing your experience about the windows but i think i will pass on this one.

ASK, they do go down by themselves. The Auto-up circut is to make them ... well ... go up automatically.

 

My LOTF damper is in and working well in my 06 MCS. I didn't realize that you could drill another hole in the frame, so right now there is very little preload on my damper. Still made a difference, but when I do my pulley soon, I am going to drill a hole a bit closer to add back some preload.

Also, on the topic of wrenches: if you have any to buy, go ahead and buy the gearwrenches. not sure of the exact price, but I know they often go on sale at sears. Since I have gone gearwrench, I havn't looked back. They rock and are worth the difference in price when you are working.....

think? im always worried that i'll break them..that's why i was thinking
about going the basic box wrench stubby.

might just do the popular size in those gear wrenches though... like
10, 12, and 17 or something.

 

Well, just installed mine yesterday on my lunchbreak. That should tell you it can easily be installed in under an hour (as I'm not too mechanically inclined...). I lost one of the bell washers when bolting up the longer bolt into the frame, so I grabbed the second bell washer, and made sure I didn't drop this one (what is the second bell washer for? An extra? If so, thank you for including a backup!!!)

Anyways, first impression, noticed a difference instantly when letting off the throttle. Somewhere, I read that to feel the kickback, redline in first or second gear, and then just drop the throttle like something stung your foot (don't push in the clutch, or slowly let out on the gas pedal). Before the engine damper, when I tried this, there was a huge kick!! After the installation of the damper it is now just a soft kick. Not that I like taking my car to the redline and then just dumping the throttle, but it was a way to noticed the affect the damper had on the car.

Second impression, I'm getting a little bit of vibration... Not throughout the car as my iPod isn't shaking, but I can feel my seat vibrating, and the steering wheel vibrates as well now. Definately something I can live with, especially when it makes you feel as one with the car, and as someone mentioned before, "makes you feel like you're in a race car."

Those are my impressions. If I had to do it over, would I....that would definately be a "YES ."

I got my engine damper today along with my spygear toggle switch! I just got done installing it. masking tape is needed to keep the pieces together. finding them after you drop them is a pain. I have an MCSa and you need to grind down the frame a bit to get the bolt to go where you want it to, I couldnt find any other way around this, I looked into my dads MC and he had so much more room to install an engine damper. well after grinding the frame a little, the rest was a breeze. I took it for a test drive and it felt great, no more bucking especially when I gently apply pressure on the brake to slow down. This is a great mod, and for only $55, plus shipping, its cheap too!

 

Also, thanks Shoe for sending it so fast! I wasnt expecting it today at all, the FedEx tracking website doesnt even show it as shipped haha
