Hi. Instructions link is in my signature.

Yes, it is reversible. Simply unbolt and voila!

This seems... stupidly simple. Even a child could do it. SO I shuold be able to struggle through.

I'm off to check the group buy thread... (sigh)...

EDIT - oh, it's closed, and yet it's still in your sig. Feh.

It's very simple but you need to do things slowly.

Space is tight but with the correct tools - listed in the instructions - it should not take too long.

Tools needed are 17mm wrench, a 17mm stubby wrench, a pair of pliers, and a telescopic magnet.

Yep, love mine...can definitely feel the difference. It's one of those things that makes you say, now why didn't Mini just think of that in the first place

I don't have a telescopic magnet... can i use some thin rubber bands on
the ball joint to keep it straight when mounting through the frame hole?
or even some e-tape for that matter...something soft that won't damage
the joint.

Some people have used tape. Anything to hold that bell washer in place. The telescopic magnet is very useful should you drop something by accident into the engine bay. Everyone should have a telescopic magnet!

You have a choice:

a) Cut away some metal as described by Dr. Obnxs on post #598 on page 24 of the group buy thread (HERE)

b) Purchase a custom bracket that we will be releasing very shortly.

I am finishing up a set of brackets to give to Shoe. If it passes his inspection, then it should be soon.

Nothing is out yet, but I think they, or someone is working on a solution. And the date is also unsure...so be patient.

Ok, I've got a March of '03 build date...Is that still the "early" build? What makes the difference?

Also, even with it not "pretensioned" (by drilling an extra hole), does it still make a big difference? Why would it be better to load it by drilling that hole?

Mine is a 03/03 build as well. So you should be fine. The '02s and the early build '03s have an extra piece of metal where the damper is going to sit, so it doesn't fit.

Yes, it still makes a big difference.
Drilling the extra hole allows you adjust the pre-tension.

By drilling another hole you increase the pre-tension thus making the damper a bit more stiff than otherwise.

As per my post #37 above, please check this post to see if you have the "extra" material.

Based on your build date I beleive that you will be fine and will not need the bracket.

I just drilled my hole the other day (that sounds really bad) and I have not noticed any additional vibration. The only thing I hear vibrating is my damn exhaust (UUC) whose gaskets have all rusted through and need to be replaced.

the instructions on the installation is pretty basic. i just installed and posted this thread to share to our mini-alliance. i am no mechanic nor like getting my hands dirty (i out source my mods) but when i saw how simple it looked, i gave it a shot. it took me about 45min to install. i think i could of done faster but i had to uninstall once due to my error on the washers (dumb me ), but anyways it pretty simple but since our mini dont have much room to work with, it takes patiences and eagerness to get it on.
all you effort will be rewarded once you feel the difference. it like anticipating for your mini to come to you but once you get it, you forgotten about the wait.

oh yeah, it can be uninstalled.
