I see your point about getting flamed, even my 41whp gets flamed. Seems like people would be happy and that be it. There seem to be a lot of might doers on the board and less doers. If I want something I just do it, I don't spend a year researching what intake I should get or being on the fence between a 15% pulley and a 16%. Let me put it this way.... if I were to put money on the fact that a dyno (any dyno) reading was inaccurate, what is the probability that I am right?

It's a safe bet. Thats the bottom line.

I am not disputing Mario's car's numbers. On the contrary. I am not disputing the dyno pulls either. I am questioning nothing. I just am not believing all of the information provided. And whether I'm correct in my beliefs regarding the situation, I guess we will never know.

Proven to what level of accuracy? +- 10whp?

By the way, no nay saying here..... just nay believing.

Tuls, the DELTA is as accurate as the base and post dynos.

I think we are taking this a little too seriously, some personally.

It's ok for me or anyone else for that matter to question the base number. Hell even YOU guys questioned it, thats why YOU took the higher of the base numbers, to be more "realistic".

I would also like to add, not a single person in this thread EVER said "41whp?? BS NO WAY!"

I know I am definitely not going to dispute it - because i cant.

I seriously want to drive this car - I love cool MINIs, and this one is definitely that.

right on... thanks for being fair... that's what I have always tried to do for the community... be real.. and fair....

I will take Marios car to the track some time.... if he says it's ok.... then we can get an acurate MPH and calculate out the HP... cuase time aside... the MPH is ussually there... no matter what.... that will tell you everything

Now there would be a great project for the SCMM or other MINI club(s) -- a MINIs-only drag race track day!!

Picture this: any vendors can come for showing off their best stuff, but all MINIs are invited and there could be a Minis event also and even a cross-over "all-comers" thang too. No big prizes. Keep it all FUN and emphasize "how do I get the best 1/4-mile result" with or without DSC, etc. Each car gets three pulls and the match-ups are luck of the draw or something.

The person in the lane next to you is just whoever. No "grudges," no racing for "pinks" or anything. Just a good time, great food and great company, and a whole lot of burned rubber.

Well, how about it, SCMM? How much per car to rent a drag strip for the day including some sponsor money and vendor "grease" (give 'em a chance to prove and sell their stuff like in AMVIV and stuff too.)

Hell - make it a two-day weekend thing and include a run through all the Hollywood Hills or something too, or up PCH.

"Tuls said it himself, they chose the highest number to be more "realistic", whatever that means"

We talked about this at Fireball HQ after the weekend but wondered how many would actually turnup.

It would be a blast thats for sure as Tuls said earlier mph shows what horsepower you make and et shows how effcient u and your car are, you would also have to have the scale guy there to weigh you after the run and this will tell you what whp you just made.

Thats the beauty about a drag strip, when the green light drops the ******** stops

Damn straight! Our MINIs might be great in the twisties, but when I got smoked by a Neon SRT4 by 1 second at the Albuquerque Strip (alt. 5400ft) I knew he was pulling way more HP than me!
I laugh when I see all those mid to low 14 second times for MCS modded like mine, and hear all the whining about making your car go faster. Living and driving at 5000ft+ means I'm 20+ HP down just getting in my car. All my mods have been designed to get my MINI to feel like a stock one at sea level. Hahaha...or as Tuls would say, lol.

cheers,

Yea, it stops for just long enough for everyone to get back to the pits.

I used to drag race a bit. The BS doesn't stop.

New Thread?

I guess the idea isn't totally crazy if at least two other people have considered it.

If it got well-publicized and the governance got set up so that people felt more like they were testing rather than racing, you might get broader participation (while those who want to race could certainly bust their humps, no extra charge) AND if the event had other stuff to do besides run and watch others running, (good eats? performance vendor exhibition wares?) then it might make for a fun time.

Long Beach MINI did annual poker rallies for a few years until this year I guess they stopped maybe because last year it got too big for them to handle, I guess. It did get kinda messed up last year.

The right venue might be difficult to find? I don't know where one would do such a thing.

Other things to do might be make it "all hatch-back" or something else to include more prospective owners if the concern was whether attendance would be sufficient to support it. Or maybe "all-BMW"? Whatever. Invite enough to make SURE the first time. Make it "first-come-first-served" and do it again if it goes well. Or maybe test the water somehow with the clubs and sponsors? Vendors should have lists of their customers. If they cooperated, and did a joint mailer to publicize? Use a publication like MC2? How many participants would be needed to make it work?

HELP!! Somebody with some expertise in -- whatever this is!

Thanks for the offer Mario, thanks very much, but like Glenn said, I'm heading to San Diego Autocross on Nov.4th, with quite a few other MINIs.

The SCMM breakfast which I assume you are referring to is a great get together, but track days or autocrosses trump for me.

Watch out for the Malibu police though. They all over that area, so keep your eyes peeled if you'll be test driving around there.

There is also a NAMCC challenge this Monday at Buttonwillow, which I will be at. Come check that out if you can get the day off work.

No problem, just thought I would ask. Good luck on the both track days and don't forget to pass up some Vipers and Vettes.
Do you know when and where the O.C. meet is? I think its this Sunday.

the MOD WORKED?!?!?!?

I'd hope it'd do something if my car ONLY made 167 with all those previous mods....

I'm impressed with the head, but I would have been worried to start with such a low number!
