Okay, I have been on this web-site (which is very helpful) for about a month now, and I keep seeing posts about pullies. More specifically, the seat of the pants feel and the smile people get when they mash the throttle. From what I have read, there is a noticable gain in performance, especially low end torque, which is a problem for the S. Now, has anybody actually tested 0-60 or 1/4 mile times? I have seen dyno sheets, which don't mean much to me. I want to see some actual on-the-road tests! +16hp should make a differance, right?

Hi there,

I think that it is closer to 12 hp, but you get that much more torque as well.
It's a great mod.
Just drove back from having it done at Helix.

To quote GB_Junkie.... "Now, has anybody actually tested 0-60 or 1/4 mile times?"

I would be really interested to see this info also. Any takers?

I say this as I salivate thinking about a future pulley mod of my own.

MCS runs rich with pulley?
Has anybody detected problems when running the pulley mod. with oem software? Will Turner from Turner Motorsport, a knowledgeable and level headed fellow, reports that his cars run rich unless they do an ecu mod. This could result in a tanked cat.

Thoughts from you pulley-modded MCSer's?

Well, this is the best that I can come up with:
I e-mailed Turner Motorsports a couple of months ago and asked about their pulley and ECU upgrade. They said that they dragged a stock MCS with the modified one(just pulley and ECU), and the mod'd one stayed 3-4 car lengths in front of the stock one. I am not sure what they meant by "car lengths", is that a standard size car or a Mini sized car...that could make a world of differance But they also said that the car was faster than a E36 Bmw M3 (0-60-5.5). Hmmm

Yes, I've seen the TMS car on the track and it is extremely fast. The question is, if we install the pulley and do not modify the ecu, are we cruising for some troubles down the line in terms of premature cat. failure due to fuel mixture?

I have no idea what, if any data Turner is using as the basis for their statement about the mixture, but I have dyno tested my MCS with the stock and 15% pulleys while logging A/F ratio with a very precise wideband oxygen sensor and found no such problem.

Yeah, I think Turner is using scare tactics to get people to pay for the the ECU upgrade. They don't seem to bother to mention that the MCS runs at least as rich stock!

Kinda slimy from a well-respected outfit.

If Turner asks, I'll be happy to send them the raw data from my wideband logging.

Here Here! That is what everyone is forgetting. The Sotck S ALREADY runs rich. And according to Andy's A/F chart, the pulley modded S doesn't run any richer. Let's please put this "burn out the cat" question to rest!!!

Here's another off-the-chart-rich stock MCS:

Andy,

What's up with the wild fluctuations in your first chart? Looks like it's running crazy lean and erratic at low and high RPM. Is this a concern?

When getting onto and off the throttle, A/F fluctuates alot. Just pay attention to the 3100-6600 rpm range.
