OBX+One-Ball sound clips!

Finally I have made some sound clips for you all of the OBX header with the One-Ball exhaust. S-Curvz arent you excited??

The video was done on a digital camera made for still shots, so video quality is not the best. Also, I found that if you do not have a decent set of speakers with a subwoofer...you will have no idea what the exhaust actually sounds like. In person, it sounds much "fuller" and the volume is louder. I tried to capture that by flooring it through the tunnel, but the camera did not really pick it up as much as I thought.

Various driving situations, inside and out:

Inside the car, windows up, Idle & Rev:

Like I said, if you don't have any form of bass on your computer sound system...you really won't hear what the exhaust is supposed to sound like...especially on the idle video.

ditto. I just made a couple of recordings myself, as promised. Was done with a laptop mic, so quality is crap. It sounds MUCH better in real life. The bass is totally lost in the recording

I did a hot and cold engine recording, now i need a site that can host wav files....

sounds like a 1-ball w/ header all right.

Importnat for those that listened to the audio is that much was done in a tunnel and garage - which accents the tone quality and loudeness. The first section of the audio really captures its sound (but under hard acceleration) = the loudest it can be.

But notice that it wasn't so much loud as deep sounding.

Sounds good to me. I know alot is lost, but it doesn't sound a ton different than the stock clips I have heard. (yes, I have a stock MINI so i hear it all day, i am just taking for reference through computer speakers)

Thanks!

Thats the beauty of the 1-ball/OBX - you get hp/tq yet you remain stealthy. I had this sytem and then went in search of more sound and sexy new tips and I got those two items but I did not get a better system.

Its easy to get seduced - for me the only good news was that i purchased the OBX exhaust for 299 so the financial ouch wasn't too much. Since its a SS clone, I had my choice of 4 sexy tips and I am running the viper tips which I fell for. It is a full sport sounding system but over time has mellowed a bit and doesn't produce any negative drone at cruise.

See, you must hear it in person then. The difference between my set-up and stock is vast. A few weeks ago I even went to go drive a stock MCS just to compare, and the stock MCS seemed silent to me.

I think that my OBX+One-Ball is significantly louder and throatier than any non-header Milltek catback I've heard, maybe not quite as deep though.

Again, I HIGHLY recommend this set-up to anyone! It cannot be beat!!

I second this statement - whats the worse case scenario - you want more sound? or sexy tips? which means that you wasted 125 bucks (assuming you buy the 1-ball conversion pipe). I do recommend the conversion pipe because you can always sell it.

I sold mine for 65 bucks to a NAM member.

you don't even have to buy a pipe, you can get any exhaust guy to weld up a pipe.

costs virtually nothing.

my wav files' quality is nowhere near as good as thumper's, but if anyone wants them, give me your email address, cos google video won't let me upload.

Correct you do not have to buy HOWEVER not any exhaust guy is going to bend up a nice pipe.

I bought my pipe and had no rattles and bends were perfect with stainless steel clamps - AND not everyone can say this for I have seen a couple of hack jobs.

A GOOD exhaust guy - will cost more than virtually nothing!

i just heard my clips using headphones instead of on my laptop speakers, and you can hear the exhaust pretty well actually. I did two recordings, a cold start and rev, and a hot start and rev. The cold recording is very clear, but i think the sheer amount of bass in the hot recording distorts it a bit. If anyone knows where i can host wav files, please tell me...
