Not sure whether to blame plugs or wires or both, but throttle response seemed more consistent. I was very very glad I did check my plugs at this time, as my #3 was backed off pretty bad, and was experiencing some degree of blow-by(if that's the right term..but the top of the plug has a nasty brown streak going from bottom to top). I'd say considering the troubles many have had, most recently by Coop d' etat, it's well worth checking the torque on your plugs every 5-7k, regardless of what plugs you're using. I wouldn't hesitate on the Kingsborne wires... they are the 8mm wires without the 1200 degree firebraiding. If you're having temps underhood like that anyhow, you have more serious problems.
Perfect fit, darn good connectors... nice color, and the car does run fine on them.
Thanks for the input
Might as well get some of these too,
product code 6988, NGK BKR7EIX-11 .044" (1.1mm) $6.95
http://sparkplugs.com/ after I check at AutoZone/Pepboys.
I got antsy waiting for F15EWeapon to answer, one of my OEM wires (#3) has a bad coil connector. So I ordered and spent almost 3X as much with Out Motoring on a set of Kingsborne 8 mm Plug Wires with Firebraid @ $69.73 to my door. These wires appear to be put together pretty well and should be flexible enough not to have any severe bends.

You'd have thought I was talking about this

I happen to have a picture
Hope you have better luck with your autozone than I did with 3 different ones here.

Try http://www.jscspeed.com/mini/mini_base.html ...not as cheap as Autozone but you might ask them to match prices...

Yeah, what he said!

They look good, but they neither say kingsborne anywhere on the package nor do they say the diameter
. I've never bought Kingsborne wires before so I don't have any reference for comparison.

I bought mine from Kingsbourn
I got my wires from Kingsbourn directly and the Packaging looked exactly like yours. While I was at it, I added the metal braiding ...for $12 why not.
They seem to be of good quality and have good connectors.
Kingsbourn also said they make both 7mm and 8mm wire sets....they did not say why one would be better than the other though.
I imagine the effect of plug wires would only be felt if one or more were to "go bad"...Just a guess
I just did it as a preventitive measure ...Been really hot here this summer, so when I did the plug change.,..I also did new wires.

For what it's worth..
I spoke directly with the guys at import parts spec... nice fella there that spoke with me at length about the mini parts market. He was full of questions about what sorts of things other people tend to carry. They tend to deal with more OEM type parts than anything, so I don't expect to see them as a vendor anytime soon. I asked very directly about the size and source of the kingborne wires. He assured me that they indeed come from there, and that they were the 8mm variety, not the 7mm.

just finally had a chance to swap out the IK22s today, here's the pic after about 25,000 miles:

very uneven wear, worst wear is the 4th cylinder (left most one) (sorry for the crappy pic, still learning to use macro mode on my new camera), note that i installed Livewire wires and a coil pack around 5000 miles after the spark plugs gone in, and i didnt really feel misfire till really recently.... so there is defenitely some relationship between the IK22 and a more powerful coil pack
installed new NGK BKR7EIX today, and well, we'll see how things go

Do you know if this is true for yours as well?
hm... well i know for sure when i did the plugs i did the pulley, when the pulley guy threw them in he must've used some threadlock, so it did not lose torque at all through it's life and every now and then i check the torque its never off much...
so it might be something else
so it might be something else
Advance Autoparts
PEPBOYS, Not in stock, wouldn't place an order
AUTOZONE, to far away didn't check
Thanks guys for all your input + pictures and experiences with them.
IMHO I think these are the best bang for the buck + performance

Never heard of anyone ever using thread lock on spark plugs.
Not trying to be a putz but you contradict yourself in the part I placed in bold.
so im not an english major.....
point is, the thread lock (could be a thread sealant) kept the spark plug in the cylinder block.... not sure which one they used, with the NGK i threw in some medium strength ones, but i am not sure whether they will burn off in there...
