Thx

SSmini, just make sure everything is free of oil and telflon all the pipe thread. I'm really glad I didn't just give up but to clean and re-installed it. I really can't explain why it happened the first time but I will get it all sort out I still have a lot to go a far as tuning/monitoring the a/f, boost control and may be hooking up a probe for EGT. I'm new to the turbo world and so much to learn but I love it I'll be glad to help when you start your installed

I am putting a little video together of the Alta kit in action. I will have it on NAM in a few days. A video is worth a thousand words..or something like that.

Eastsidemini, Glade to hear all is working out. Is the overflow still running a bit hot? or is that also fixed. I was getting a little nervous there for awhile. Are you going to run stock boost at first? If so, let us know how the MINI pulls with stock boost. I'll be running stock boost till I can save up some funds to up the boost. How long was the install? No counting taking off the turbo and reinstalling it. Were the directions good or were there some parts that were a little hard to understand? Just want to be prepared before I jump into this.

Cliff, The video of the Alta kit in action would be great!!

Great to hear Andrew...did u disassemble the compressor side of the turbo when u had it off??? I am thinking that is where your issue was, but nontheless....great to hear..

As for the overflow....yup it will be hot...as your dumping the super hot coolant from the turbo into it! I have the same issue. Its only time before that plastic tank fails....

A combination of water+ redlines water wetter is said to reduce coolant temps up to 20 degrees.

Thanks bro, yes Jeff from Alta contacted me and the heated overflow tank is normal when the car is not moving at all. The exhaust manifold and the turbo housing will glow a little

I would be interested in a group buy on the aluminum overflow tank. There is another brand that is half the price. Its not as pretty as the other, but will do the job. Its the second from the bottom.

Eastsidemini, Did you use your cat, or did you go with a o2 sim?

I will contact them and establish an account. Those are COOL tanksCOOL.

I will be installing the 02 sim today.

Make sure nothing touches the turbo after installed. Especially any plastic or rubber products. I would recommend using stainless steel braided hose for the water lines and apply the fire shield over it. IT GETS HOT

There's no damage at all. It's just a matter of time for the plastic parts to break cause of the heat. I'm wrapping the turbo and the DP tomorrow to shade some of the heat I'm using DEI product for the wrapping.

Thanks you Cole. No, I wasn't planning on wrapping the header. I will wrap only the down pipe and the turbo exhaust side

How do you use the SS strap to tie the wrap? Anyone?
