I dont know what to say now. To have that kind of money tied up into a system that is not right would freak me out. Tell ya the truth, Im really nervous about this kit. This is the second kit Ive heard of where the turbo is smoking real bad.

It was very hard for me to contact them on Fridays. I would get the answer machine ALL the time. It was 4-4:30pm EST when I would try and call them. Ive emailed them about the pictures that are suppose to be with the directions and Im waiting for an answer from them now.

Did you get a kit with a early design header or the one with the brace in the center of the header?

did you check the return oil line? maybe its been pinched and is preventing the oil from going back to the pan?

It is a bit worrying, as i have a used kit, which was removed from a car in the NYC area... and i havent hooked it up yet to see if it works... but to be honest im not too worried.

For some reason, Ive always tried to call them on a Friday, and always had trouble getting ahold of them on Fridays. Do you think there could be some kind of blockage betweeen the header and down pipe? Just tring to think why would the gases be building up in the turbo.

I got the one with the brace in the center, it is to support the weight and prevent it from cracking.

Eastsidemini, when I got mine, I got the early design. Sent it back and was able to get the newer design.

How can I check where the coolant is leaking into the turbo? That white smoke was very stink and could it be oil?

Eastside, do you have some pictures of your install that I could look at just to cross-reference to see if I notice something wrong. Is your coolant temp guage reading high coolant temps? Did you remove/drain the radiator during the install. You may have high coolant temps if there is even a little bit of air in the system. Make sure to vent the radiator hose that runs along the top of the raditor when adding fluid to the resivoir. When coolant spills out of the vent you should have enough to stop the high coolant temps.

Hey Cliff, the smoke is coming out of the tailpipe not in the engin bay. It didn't happened on the first few start up but it happened yesterday. I talked to Cole (Tricklex) to go over the routing of the coolant lines and it was good.

I disconnected the wastgate clip and left the gate open at start up and the smoke poured out Can you call me at 808-721-1733. It is easier to explain over the phone.

problem

Unbolted the turbo and find engine oil in the intake side of the compressor but didn't get on the TB, may be that was from the oiled filter Some oil on the exhaust side and the downpipe but no sign of any coolant or smell of coolant. The white stinky smoke was from burned oil exiting the exhaust. But still can't explain why the glowing red hot exhaust manifold at idle only after 3 minutes It could be a leaky seal inside the snail or I would appricate any help or comment please

There may have been a rust preventative coating on the inside of the DP and turbo that you burned off with the glowing heat. If so that should be gone now. Have you tied again? Do you have a CAT. Could it be plugged up?

The white smoke didn't show up from the first start up but on the second day But the manifold glow the whole time This is what happened from the first start up.

1. Loud weird blowing turbulent sound coming from the intake compressor side. It sound like if you cup your hands and blow into it
2. coolant tank overheat at idle after 3 mins. Bleeded the hoses and still
3. Exhaust manifold glow red hot at idle after 3 mins

Stoped working the car until the next day. Woke up early the next morning and change out the thermostat and re-bleed the collant but still didn't start car till the next day after installing the boost gauge that's when the white smoke showed up I've removed the small clip that attached from the actuator to the wastegate and left the gate wide open and that weird turbulent sound disappeared completely.

Last night I removed the turbo and saw small trace of oil inside the compressor and exhaust housing and that would caused the smoking not in the engine bay but exiting the tailpipe

Alta was closed from last Friday and could not be reached and this wait and problems completely ruined my holiday

Reinstalled the turbo and everything was fineno smokeand no glowing manifoldbut the overlfow tank is still a little hot even after bleeding The car is idleing fine and took it around the block and pull back into my garage. It feels great I will need to hook up the Apexi and the wideband now.
