$2600 to blow.

Hi guys. New to the forum. Been lurking around for a couple weeks and have been trying to put together a wish list for my cooper s.

I have 2600 to blow on making my car accelerate faster. I'm having trouble putting together a good list. Obviously adding power isn't the only way to go faster but carbon fiber body panels are expensive. So what i'm asking is how would you guys spend $2600 to make the car accelerate faster?

right now my list is as follows:

Alta Sportone exhaust (combo of weight and power) $600
Mini Madness CAI $200
Mini Madness throttle body $450
Mini Madness 15% reduction pulley $150
Alta header $760

What else can i get? is there a better combo for the price? Thanks for the help guys.

For that much money, forget about those bolt-ons. Go directly to a head ... WMS, M7, your local machine shop .... whoever.

Anything left over get the pulley and a chip. All the rest can wait BTW, it really doesnt matter who you buy from since a pulley is a pulley.

All the boltons together will not do as much for you as the head. What you got to remember is that most ppl dont do it they way your suggesting. They buy a piece here, then a piece there and before they know it, they have spend that much. This way, you get to do the most important part first.

m7 16% pulley $129
m7 Exhaust $800 (or so)
m7 DFIC $899 (this one is a must!)
m7 AGS or the HDI box pick your poison.
m7 2% Crank Pulley $149
m7 USS (under strut System, not speed per say but makes the handling a dream!!) $349

you around $2500 with all this.....

your list is great so far but I would really look at the DFIC and maybe scrap the throttle body.

good luck. Your question is very subjective to opinion on this board.

I think some will back me up on the pulley, exhaust, Intake and the DFIC. Pick your poison on the first three but you really want the DFIC from m7 (DFIC being the Direct flow intercooler0.

2600
-300 2 NASA HPDE days with instruction
-005 VGS mod (easy self install)
-100 One-ball
-250 ALTA CAI or HDI
-150 ALTA 15% pulley
-200 Rear Sway bar
-100 new brake pads and upgraded fluid
-200 Helmet
-500 Race seat
-200 Harness

Tires are expenadables like gas, brakes, oil, wipers.

Remove the rear seats and cushions and seat belts
Dump any sound deadening and carpets

In total you'll probably drop 100 lbs and be going a good deal faster.

Or you could just give me $2600, trust me I'd use it.

I thought about mentioning that but you are looking at spending over $3500 so either save or do the other options...

good idea and honestly that might be the best money spent if you are willing to wait. the only thing to think about that while it will give you a good amount of power with a stock setup you need to consider that with additional mods it will be awesome!Just wait for SpiderX to provide the details when he gets his car back.

I would also spend a little more and just get the M62 from the get go. Plus, you'll be one of the first with the kit!

JMHO... I concur with driving school first. Actually, several driving and autocross schools.

And then, a good suspension, some track wheels and sticky tires... With driving instruction and a killer suspension and tires, you'll make mince meat out of the vast majority of other vehicles.

Man.... there is a lot that can be done with $2600..... but the big question to me is is there another $2600 to $3500 available next year......

If I knew that all I was ever going to spend was $2600 or even $3500 I probably would not do the 62..... braking and handling is, as, or more, important than power......

I would do:

rear sway bar
upgrade rotors and pads
lighter wheels
springs and shocks

forget the TB..... I am not convinced that anything happens here worth the $

think used....lots of people are changing out parts and there are some great deals available... I have seen some deals on barely used catbacks and intakes

the DFIC is hard to pass on

If you want to spend it all on power

pulley
dfic
cat back
intake

$2600 is a lot but so is the price of all these "go fast" parts.....

you have what I like to call "a high class problem"

Unless I missed something, he said he had $2600 to spend. The labor is a lot on the parts everyone is mentioning, for those of us who can't do it ourselves. $2600 might only be $2000 or less in actual parts.

I just did a similar thing... had $3000 to blow, so I've got rims, tires, M7 springs, exhaust, intake, 19% pulley, belt, tensioner tool, deluxe pulley removal tool, header,M7 strut bar, and DFIC... i only went over by a hundred dollars by shopping smart! Whatever you do, take your time, and avoid impulse buying!

Also, I'll be doing all of the install myself! It's good bonding time!

all of these suggestions have been awesome guys. thanks. I had a feeling people would mention the driving schools and things. Thats already covered and done. I have a 95 M3 as a dedicated track car. Money has already been allotted to suspension and other things. $2600 is the amount i am willing to spend on HP and only HP. I am not going to spend more and probably not going to spend less. Labor is not an issue either. I work at a speed shop and spend my days tearing cars apart and putting them back together. The mini is going to be my daily driver and therefore needs to be as reliable as possible. Thats why i have been looking at bolt ons. The head is an interesting idea though. I will look into it. Keep it up guys.

Does anyone know if the wms head will benefit a bone stock S? It would seem to me that a higher flowing head is useless without less retrictive breathing. Everything from the airfilter to the exhaust tip would have to change to really take advantage of it. Thats certainly more money then i am willing to spend.
