That sounds familiar. Did I hear it in Rush Hour or Rush Hour 2?
Anyway, your welcome.

I agree with sid in that the M7 flow better than the others i have seen (atleast until i can see a bigger pic of that DS one...which may be a bit too aggresive for the MINI's styling.

i know this has been mentioned more than a few times but i can't get over how hot it would be to have those louvers welded on and smoothed in.

someone with photoshop skills want to show us that?

That's all folks...took a nice trip to Mid Ohio where tons of people enjoyed Msfitoy's new louvers

I did some "tuff" testing and there are definitely hot air coming out while at speed...unfortunately, I didn't have anyone to photo this in action...maybe another time...

No improvement in thermal efficiency numbers, better underhood temp measurements or anything? Bummer

I'm was so certain that the underhood temp would be lower before the project that I committed to cutting two HUGE holes into my $1000 bonnet Come on guys...there's no easy way to measure a before/after temp without a whole lot of extremely careful testing proceedures that I just don't have time for...

1-tape up louvers
2-get engine temp to constant known temp
3-get IC to constant known temp
4-travel for known distance at known speed at known ambient temp
5-unblock louvers
6-repeat whole proceedur at least twice

Oh...I forgot that I don't have any extra pyrometers to do this testing

Or...I could give my seat of the pants prediction that "the temperatures are lower under the hood with louvers" because from experience, when ever I opened the door to my oven, my wife yells at me to hurry and shut it because I'm letting the heat out And you know wives are always right

Sides...when the "tuffs" are streaming away from the louvers' exit, that would mean there's air flowing out

That's good enough for me.

I'm sure after you park, there is significant heat escaping from the louvers as well, and that is a good thing.

Just drive and have a friend hang out the window and put their hand over the louvers. If it feels nice and warm then it's working well. I'd say wait until January, in the mountains, wind chill at least -10º. Pick somebody that borrowed a dollar and never repaid it

I'm just kidding. Glad you like the mod

On the serious side though I was wondering if you had noticed a difference in your IC temps. Nothing scientific.
If you haven't or don't have time Sid that's cool. It was just a curiosity thing nothing more.

Thanks

How about a real SOP test - drop your drawers and sit on the louvers and tell us does it feel less hot than before? No doubt that you will come back that you do not have a non-louvered comparison. I am sure that someone will let you put your bum on their hood or perhaps not but I offer up my hood (gulp ).

In the event that MISFITOY goes for it - could you contact his wife and ask her to get the camera ready? You know how this board thrives on documented "how to" pics and perhaps NAM will make it a STICKY (i'm going to hell for this one).
