I really do want to thank you and all who post data such as IC temps. This interests me a lot because I am trying to figure out what actually works and what doesn't. So please, let's keep that going. (I'm busy trying to run down an E30 M3 and I am 5 seconds off the pace at The Glen.)
One thing I will say, I do like the sound of the AGS!

Not sure what to make of it yet....
Most of the testing I did was at high load & RPM in 2nd. Most of Jenn B's number give IC TEs of mid 50%s under cruising..... I think this is lower than what I would expect, I have no apples to apples comparison data.

Wow this was a interesting little read. We have the next batch of DFIC''s coming in later this week and will get them out as fast as we can. As they all have built in fittings for instrument probes I am sure many more findings will be posted and there will be even more speculation.
I can make a few comments here however .
1/ Bigger is not always better as the bigger your IC is the the slower it responds once it has achieved heat soak. There is just too much hot metal for the incoming air to cool down . By taking a poor design , the stock Ic , and making it bigger you have not really accomplished anything. The air still has to make a big turn to get thru the IC. The air STILL has no place to go if it does indeed make it thru the IC. Additionally the bigger Ic's also do a fine job of blocking a good percentage of the air intake which also causes them to lose efficiency. Take a look in the front of some of the cars equipped with a larger IC and all you will see is the side of the cooler itself.
2/ As for making our DFIC bigger we could, but we won't. The size of this unit is the most efficient one for the applications requirements. To go larger would only put us in the same situation regarding heat soak even though ours is positioned in a more efficient direction metal still gets hot and wants to stay that way. The engine requirements of the Mini are what have dictated the size of the DFIC. As with the all of our products we rely on our close proximity to some of the leading automotive parts manufacturers to assist us in the design and production of our products. This particular unit is built in the USA by one of the leading intercooler design and production firms in the world and not something that can be picked up in a basic configuration at the SEMA show for sixty bucks , seventy if you want it polished
Being in Southern California has its disadvantages as far as traffic goes but if you are in the auto parts business it gives you an advantage that no one can compete with.
3/ As for numbers I know they are important to many and to me as well but perhaps in a different way. With regards to the DFIC the only numbers that matter to me are 3 and 4 and 4 and 3 . These are the gears I use when running up my test hill climb route. Without the DFIC I am in 3rd gear for most of the run touching 4th on the straightaways . With the DFIC 4th gear for most of the run and touching third for a couple of the tight turns. In my book that averages out to being able to pull almost an entire gear higher and that is all I really care about.

As for the golf business, I have been sitting here most of the day doing the video breakdown of the swings from a few clients at the US Open. They get subcontracted out to me. See my web site www.bigdoggolfvideo.com.
As for feel ain't real practically, the entire sport world recognizes this notion. Check out our clients and you will see how many top level athletes train with video analysis; www.dartfish.com.
And for those interested in NASCAR, Dartfish video has been used by Roush Racing since about 1998. It's not my account but I do follow it. We also sponsor the Pole Vision team in Europe and work with driver development programs from race karts to F1.
Concerning mental health, the notion of feel is what taints it as a legitimate science in the eyes of many.

However, most of us are not here for the "big nutz" aspect. We are here for the feel. We like our MINIs because of how they feel.
-When I tromp on my accelerator I'm not thinking in my head about what kind of torque I'm currently generating or what WHP I have...
-When I'm blasting through corners at insane speeds and feeling my seatbelt hugging me as I do the unthinkable I'm not thinking about g-forces or friction...
I'm thinking one thing:
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
So if I buy a mod that increases my WHEEEEEE factor... then damnit... that is good money spent on a good mod.
So for you to come in here and attempt to shoot down the credibility of some people because youz nutz is bigger then the rest, is out of line.
Because we aren't here to flex nutz. We're here to encourage each other in obtaining the ultimate WHEEEEEE factor... and if SpiderX and obehave and Randy and Will and... and... and.. etc... found or created a product that increases WHEEEEEE then I would buy that way before I ever bought a "well I'm from here with this and this and I dyno only with eddy (whoever the hell eddy is)" kind of product.

Again, as you have claimed that you do not know everything, you do not know. You also do not know all configurations of all the MINI's that would use a part, specifically Spider's in this case, so you cannot say for sure if he can or cannot feel a difference, be it a cam or an intercooler. So what you are spreading is disinformation, which I also seem to remember you being at least marginally against.

So, I guess that when you upgrade someone's MINI with MTH(since you are a "specialist"), the difference in the car is not real. It's just the imagination of the customer. Do you send hypnosis software in the bundle so they can have the sensation of more power while not actually having it? If "feel ain't real" then how do people know the vehicle was even modified? I'll tell you how since you are having a difficult time grasping this concept... they feel it.

Once again I'm confused: Is M7 selling an image or a go fast part? I'd like to know that your DFIC works but from what I can tell my stock IC delivered practically the same intake temp as yours. I don't want to know that it feels better to your customers; I want to know if it actually works and works at the only place a go fast part matters: the track.
Importantly, I don't need somebody getting their "wee factor" on the same street shared by me. Responsibility comes to mind.
