Yes... on an eddy current dyno.... you can even run the quarter mile... or just go for a drive... same variables... every time... the best part is the weather can always the same... especially if you dyno is inside

yes... same as reasons before... for instance the time it takes the car to rev out I can acuually tell with in 5 HP what it made... yeah I have spent too much time tuning cars LOL....

Everybody seems to be focused on doing a dyno, which is difficult to properly set up to evaluate this product. In the meantime, are there other numbers that can be useful for comparison, such as 0-60 time (or other speed ranges)?

That is quite reasonable. Your assurance that the data will not be massaged to meet marketing preconceptions is quite welcomed. In addition to your dyno data (? eddy-current set-up), it would be helpful to see results from some of your actual performance testing, as has been suggested by others. Thanks for your honesty ---

No comments? Was this a dumb idea? I figured that 0 to 60 runs would give proper airflow and any advantages of the DFIC should show up.

A proper 0-60 run would be interesting, since the DFIC seems to cool down from idle/heat soak quickly, but you've gotta think about things like launch technique and consistency. I think that a 40-70 run might be more reliable, since you're not gonna have issues with traction. Perhaps, though, the best would be to do a 40-70 or whatever and, instead of timing, to log peak g forces with a GTech or something like that. You can see which IC really helps the car pull the hardest. For windshield dynos, feel IS real!

While I think all forms of testing add value by giving us insight. I lean more towards the type of testing MATT has been doing when it comes to ICs.

MATT has tested stock, Alta, GRS and GTT. I am working with a vendor to get a Forge unit to him. I encourage M7 to do the same.

I would think 0-60 would reveal low end superiority and then a quarter mile would reveal top end.

Three runs each.

Frankly, I'd rather know those numbers than anything else.

If that's all you're concerned with then just put a sprayer on the stock IC.

That's excellent but really for short bursts I can't see the larger IC helping.
It's a larger mass to heat soak between runs and if I remember right you can't spray during runs(auto-x newb here so insert slack where needed )

That said. I have the GRS and I spray the snot out of it between runs. ( I've been told this is legal?? ). Even with that by the end of my 3rd run last weekend ( course avg was around 60 sec so it was a long one, 87º and ~70%*humidity) my IC was "holy crap" hot and hard to bring down to " OK, I can leave my hand on it" temps. I hope you like my scientific terms
Just thinking that a smaller thermal mass may be easier to return to acceptable temps.

Unfortunately my IC inlet and outlet temp gauges aren't hard mounted so I have to take them out for events.

what the guys do down here is open the hood and put small amounts of ice on between runs

Yea, I forgot to mention I freeze my bottle the day before. Leave it in the fridge over night and by the time my heat rolls around there's ussally jst a block of ice floating on the bottle.
I think the ice thing is a better option but I'm **** about dinging the fins on a ~$800 IC

Tumbled so there are no sharp edges

Well, it works for me....that doesn't mean it's right though.

Don't know for sure...

but I think when M7 has worked through the backlog (however long it may be) they'll box one up for me to play with.... But to be fair, I'd take care of the rabid customers first (and I don't mean that in a negative way....)

So while it's talken longer than some have liked, the testing is still in the pipeline.....
