How risky is to install a 15% pulley and intake

I am all about to order a 15% pulley and intake and a set of denso IK22 spark plugs for my 04 MCS, however, after some more detail research, i realize quite a bit of people having the above same mod have problems with ping/knocking. i am running 91 octane which is the highest in california.

i really want to know how risky is to install the above mods and approx. how many % of the people are having problem after installing all these mod.

all the input will really help me decide if i should mod my mini.

p.s. it's my daily drive / weekend track car. and i really don;t want to have any problems with it.

Thanks in advance

Don't worry....

I've had one on for quite a while. It's fine. You'd be surprised, but with our ****-for-gas, you're timing retard is already working, even without the pulley!

Get it and be happy and don't worry.

Its well worth it. Lets look at it like this. JCW deemed a 14.2% pully a "safe" pully for their warantied product. A 15% will not give you problems.

This is the most dangerous modification to your car that you can do. If you install it and it doesn't explode immediately, it will sooner or later. Don't listen to what others say. They secretly laugh when other MINI's blow up. Also, don't mind the fact that I have one installed on my car. Last warning, don't do it unless you want your car to blow up.

Don't forget to consider the warranty before you buy your pulley

Some vendors offer factory-like warranties for their pullies. Mini Mania is one (Mini Mania warranty). You can get a warranty that will cover damage to the pulley and to any MINI factory part that it damages, for the life of your original factory warranty.

With a good vendor warranty, you won't have to worry about a Magnuson-Moss dispute with your MINI dealer about your factory warranty.

Didn't JCW deem the 14.2% pulley ok along with their software? Is the software the key to unlocking the best power from the pulley while keeping the engine safer?

Don't know what the software really does!

The car runs in closed loop at part throttle, at WOT, it's pig rich... Doesn't really need an ECU tune. And the injection is calculated based on RPM, driver demand and T-MAP readings.... So the pully raises T a bit, and MAP a lot!

15% is about as dangerous as filling up your car at the gas station

Don't listen to these liars. They also lied about the short shifter install being easy.

I believe that cloudpicker's concerns regarding pinging/knocking arose from this thread. I place some blame on myself for giving him doubts about doing a CAI and 15% pulley, since I went on a slight tangent into the pinging/knocking issues I'd been having after adding a 2% overdrive crank pulley.

I should make it clear that I had no trouble at all with pinging or knocking with a 15% pulley and CAI. It wasn't until the 2% crank pulley was thrown in that I began experiencing pinging at WOT above 3K RPM.

Cloudpicker, the 15% pulley and CAI will help your car pull better and give you better milage as a daily driver, assuming that you can resist the temptation to stomp on the gas.

Dude...

[EDIT] I just looked over the thread that I've been parodying and you, ScuderiaMini, missed out on it. Link
My fault for assuming that everybody had read it. I thought my sarcasm in these posts were rather blatant as well.
