well... we finally broke something

FINALLY! broke the engine mount... on cooper S 16's! HA HA! it broke powershifting 4th... i have probably powershifted 4th gear about 2-3 thousand times...

FYI ive power shifted 6th about 300 times...

good news is NONE of our products broke! ha ha ha... maybe its time we invest in building some motor mounts...

honestly i dont think too many people will have this problem... the part was probably defective to begin with... bad casting or something...

Which car was the one that broke the mount? What mods are on it? Also, were you running stock bushings or not? Looks like fun .

That car has a 15% pulley and nothing else.

now you can brag about how the MINI engine wants to break free of the car when you stomp on it... and you wouldn't be exaggerating...

Wait. You say you "finally" broke something with ONLY a pulley on? This means you EXPECTED to "finally" break something with your pulley installed? I've heard of three mount failures or so, all on nitrous or turbo cars.

I don't know why you could expect to break ANYTHING with just a pulley. Unless it's a 100 lb-ft pulley....lol... .

I'm seriously confused. The word "finally" [even if in gest] seems to have no place here [it's not like you're seriously testing stock parts with just your pulley!].

Oddly enough Maximus broke his lower mount last night. I will try and take a picture once it is removed and the custom CNC'ed one is in.

okay.. well this has taken on a negative tone towards the pulley which is not the case at all...

If you KNEW me or KNEW the car you would know that something when we said something finally broke... something finally broke!

I have been trying to break this thing (without jumping it) for about a year! Ive gone through 3 sets of pads... a bad tranny synchro and now FINALLY a MOTOR MOUNT... THESE cars truly are durable. they are over built... i have been powershifting this thing for the last 15 thousand miles... its made over 100 drag strip passes... about 150 150mph runs... i mean it just ridiculous! To give you an idea of how hard i drive my car... My avg. fuel consumption is 14.2 according to the car!!!

SO that is what i mean when i say I FINALLY BROKE SOMETHING! Im not saying its due to the pulley AT ALL. I am saying that it is due to the amount of abuse that it has taken... THAT OR a bad casting...

I thought I drove "spiritedly". You make me feel like martha stewart on downers. Bob Ross even (rest in peace).

Glad to hear our cars can take so much.

Understood . I was just a bit confused by the emphasis with which you posted. It sure sounded to me like you would had a twincharge or something ....which is why I was a bit humored [] by the fact that you were just running a pulley.

14.2, huh? Sheeet. You got any software or an SAFC? Or, is that just richness speaking? . Cheers d00d....not meaning to bust your ***** or anything. Happy friggin Friday!

this car is not twin charged... this is my daily driver! It has a pulley and a JCW intake (which is for sale if someone wants the thing) The twin charge car has solid motor mounts... and the old style motor mount... hopefully it will fare better... only time will tell

and as far as busting my *****... don't worry about... their pretty much made of unobtainium

no software... just a pulley and the jcw upgrade!!! (this car is a lease and i didn't want to do the afc and all of that just to rip it out, the car goes back in the next week or so...) I do drive the car quite hard... I can't help it its too much damn FUN!

(it was just a joke... no our pulley didn't break... we were just trying to have a little fun)

don't feel sorry for them! its got a new tranny! New motor mount BRAND NEW BRAKES and calipers... its like a brand new car! It has never been involved in an accident has always been well cared for... it has been driven hard but its not like i dont check the oil and change the oil like a mad man!!! Plus the car seem to be strong or slightly faster than most cars... probably due to the way that i broke the car in... also the car is already sold to a person who is fully aware of the history... as a matter of fact... thats why they are buying it! its another gear head who has the same philosophy as i (and many others do) regarding breaking a car in hard! Thats why he wants it! The car as far as apearance is in meticulous condition!

thats great that you found someone who felt the same way as you, and were upfront about its history. did you do the 100 runs on the stock clutch? Did you put in another clutch when you changed out the transmission? and can you hit 150 with the limter removed with a 15? Thats awesome if you can!

There's no way he can do that. With the stock 6800 rpm redline, you can only go about 135 in 5th. In 6th, with that limiter, you can go 150 mph at about 6k rpm, but that requires pulling in 6th UP from an rpm of about 5400 rpm. With just a 15, you can't pull to 150, especially not with stock software and redline.

I call BS on that part. I've been 150+ in 5th [8k+ rpm baby!], and yet I can't hold more than 145 if I shift to 6th. I have a Cosworth Stage 2 car [head and everything].

So, either you've got new software and a raised redline or that's just in there for exaggeration's sake. Sorry, but either way it's BS.

So, he has JCW software? Even at 7300 rpm, my '04 only goes about 138 rpm. This is, btw, right at the JCW max speed: 135. Either way, that software will NOT allow you to hit 150. Just ask any JCW owner.

So, no software? software? If software, it can't be JCW for the above simple reason.
