Drivetrain MTH Header + File 210hp?
MTH Header + File 210hp?
I know this topic has been discussed many times. But I haven't found one accurate answer about it. Is it really true that MTH header and file combo gives 40hp more? It's a lot of money to spend for headers where you could buy a decent one for 245$.
Please inform me about this briefly otherwise I can spend my money on something else.
Thanks

Not a chance, unless you have already done everything else possible, and the car is just waiting to remove that one last obstruction to air flow.
I am a satisfied customer of MTH, having bought the Tuner files with much lower expectations of improvement. However, IMHO, MTH is one of the worst, and almost as bad as Alta, at providing accurate information about their products. For example while they claim that their Tuner ECU mods will give you 25 HP, they don't usually mention that this is only when added to an already highly-prepped car that is not remotely street-suitable.
We are still waiting a year later for information on the gains from MTH Tuner files on a) an unmodified MCS, or b) an MCS with only moderate mods, such as pulley, intake and exhaust. Curiously enough, no-one at MTH has ever bothered to provide the information, which indicates to me that the gains in these cars would be far less. My own experience on my `05 MCS with pulley and intake, is that my butt-dyno says maybe 10-12 HP from the Tuner files - roughly equal to my 15% pulley.
If you want the facts from any vendor, ask for the full test conditions and the data to prove it. Any vendor that can't or won't provide you with complete information to make a decision, is, shall we say, being optimistic in their advertising. Run away as fast as possible.
If they do provide such information, carefully investigate whether the testbed conditions are remotely similar to your car or driving requirements.
Bottom line is that if you look at any aftermarket car-toy manufacturer's claims for power gains, take the low end of the claimed range, or halve the claim if only one number is provided, and your expectations may be realistic, depending strongly on the integrity of the vendor.
I mention integrity because there are a lot of "performance" products out there whose avertising claims are total BS, or which can be actively harmful to your car. Always take any advertising for car products with a large grain of salt - the vendors lie like a rug...
BTW, telling you that there is a 40HP gain is essentially meaningless - while that might be true at a narrow peak around 8000RPM, it is a calculated figure that tells you nothing about whether there is actual usable torque provided. HP claims are about as meaningful as comparing the watts an amplifier delivers, with no other information.

You can just wait a bit. If you check the MTH board, you'll see that somebody has posted some vids of the MTH header and milltek exhaust paired together. I think that somebody is Berthill. I could be wrong though. But if it is Berthill, by his posts on Mini2, a bunch of the MTH header guys are going to dyno on the 11th of February.
I call 25-30hp for the pairing. The fact that MTH-Houston is willing to offer a discount to a purchaser in exchange for some dyno tests makes me have some high hope for the product. I guess we'll see in a short while.
