Did you talk to Alta about why they sent the IC to me? I don't remember ever promising anyone quick results.

I think Andy's probably still rolling on the floor laughing at your posts in the other thread trying to figure out how to calculate a 13% difference...

Only posting because this thread was dead a while back anyway...

. Didn't you know at that point [or when arranging to take the IC from Alta] that you "didn't have the probes?" You even indicated you would test it this weekend. Anyways, see post 159- I did not say "Didn't Andy"- I said "Didn't Alta."

I take it you did not read the other thread. And, I don't see how a thread about a future product can become dead without those posting in it realizing it. hmm...

Andy didn't promise to post any results.

I never said anything about Andy promising. From Alta, post 35:

Now, reconsider what I wrote. "Didn't Alta..."

I must have skipped a page. Andy, any "noise" changes w/ the new IC during your initial drive?

Nope, no real noise changes, possibly a slight increase in engine sound but that may just be due to the removal of the black plastic shroud from the underside of the hoodscoop - nothing obtrusive or obnoxious.

Please...

i beg those (any and all) involved to keep this thread from becoming another pi$$ing match with words.

maybe i have not been around long enough to know all the feuds, but can this please stay somewhat on topic: New Larger Alta Intercooler!!!

maybe it's me...but i would prefer to read 2 pages about the product as opposed to 6 pages of people taking sideways jabs at each other....what are we, carbureted push rod users?!?

(puts soap box away....)

I think we all know that. Nothing against him but it would be nice to stay on topic a little bit more. It's not him. I think everyone is really excited about the new IC. Can't wait to see M7's new unit and their new other products.

And yes, I am a pushrod user too, but the carb went away on that one. I have another one that has a carb but no pushrods....

Also, getting time and tools to do comprehensive testing is a real pain. I think Alta sent it to Andy to get independant results. I've got lots to test, but until I have more time, and some dry roads, I won't be testing anything!

Joker, I feel for ya. My spelling pretty much sucks, and I rarely get nailed for it. Thanks to all for letting me slide.... Just call me rap-master O!

Thanks to these, I got all of the temp probes installed tonight:

Needless to say, I won't be doing any testing tonight.

Not to mention how funny it is that the way you speak, rather than what you [even when translated!] say, is repeatedly addressed in the vain effort to avoid addressing the words spoken, all under the dubious pretense of certain people that they are so superior that they must be addressed as demanded in order to get an answer! It's like the kids I see in clinic, really!

Andy, respectfully, please double check this morning after a cup of coffee exactly where you installed those probes last night.

Once confirmed that they are where intended - GO FOR IT, and have fun.

I checked ... they are all in the right places.

FWIW, the temp probes are located:

1) Inside the rubber intake elbow, just upstream of the throttle body.
2) Inside the passenger side rubber intercooler coupler (hot side)
3) Inside the driver side rubber intercooler coupler (cool side)

I use the factory outside temp sensor for ambient readings (located in the bumper, clipped to the back of the fake mesh part of the lower opening). I've found that its readings are close enough to reality to not throw off the calculations much. My view looks like this but with the additional intake air temp gauge added just to the right of the wheel.

How are you not losing pressure through the rubber IC boots with the bungs in place? Under 15 psi or so, you're certain to get distension of the rubber... I'm curious to hear your opinion.

Temperature sensors do not require air flow through them to function. The probes are inside the rubber boots. The wiring is outside.
