the cam has the biggest affect in the high rpms. And will make the most power if you have a head on the car. On the stock head the power increase is not that much. But with a more highly modded car IE head the increase is much more profound. 20ish horses we found on our heads.

I have the Schrick race cam (from Kelleners Germany) and port and polished head on my 2004 MCS. It is still in the shop due to some ECU problems on the HP boost. Once this is sorted out and the car is tuned I will post dynos. It will be about another week. Expected WHP is 240 (fingers crossed) ....but will have to wait and see.

What kind of dyno? Must be some really low driveline loss...

The Schrick cam brings about 20 hp on an CooperS with stock head.
We tested that on 8 different CooperS.
The higher the rpm, the higher is the hp gain and the torque gain about 15 ft lbs was mostly between 3500 and 6000 rpm.
The Schrick cam is the best hp gain for the money right after an smaller pully.
Caution, the ECU has to be tuned for the cam because the engine will run to lean without ECU modification.

this raises a question.....does the cam do better in a stock head than a ported.........

also....if you know... I bought a "street cam" about a year ago.......is that different from the current cam.....if so what are the +/- of the two cams?

Thanks in advance

There's no way you will see 20hp from a cam on a stock head..... And if you tested it on 8 different cars, please show dyno deltas.

I am wondering what I could see if the cam that WEBB sells is put into my JCW? and do I need to have the ecu tuned with the bigger injectors and jcw software?

From http://store.webbmotorsports.com/ind...products_id=40

"We also only use the Schrick street cam, which does not cost low end to achieve ultimate peak numbers"

I would say that implies there is a race CAM but there are street driving issues ...

I agree with peter. If you are making a quantitative performance claim, you should post dyno results to back up that claim. Right, peter?

Huh? If you got the JCW 210, you got the bigger injectors and the sw. Right?

This raised my eyebrows as well because I didn't get any more than 20 head and cam...that is why I asked the question.

I have never seen race cam for mini.
where is the item available?
My tuning shop didn't recommend me for race cam unless I go for race because race cam gets power increase on higher rev also lose midrenge torque.

I am looking forward to see your dyno results but 240WHP is possible?
I would like to know what kind of dyno u are going to use.

back about 1 year or so there were two offered by WMS and Randy advised against the race cam for street use.... a lot of water has flowed over the dam since then and I wondered if there has been a change in wisdom?

Apparently the "race" cam is no more because I can't find it anywhere......maybe for good reason.

Yes I was wondering if it would be worth putting in a cam, with the JCW and JCW upgrade kit, I was wondering what kind of HP gains I might see with the cam, would I even notice it?

All schrick sells for the s now is the race cam. I could get you one if you needed it. I think thats all that Webb sells now as well.
You really dont loose much torque with the race cams on these cars.

Why spend all the $$$ on a JCW and decide to upgrade? You can go after market and get better HP and stage kits cheaper then JCW. Buy a stock MCS and build it like I did. More HP per $.

Schrick has done a lot of development on the cam profile.
They changes the profile of the cam several times, the 272° cam is the only one they actual produve and only this cam brings the power.
There is no rough idle and no check engine light.
The cam works fine in a stock head but even better in a ported head with big exhaust valves.
I will post some dyno sheets soon.
