do your homework, the posts go way back, then start choosing sides.

by the way, you probably meant "provenance", place of origin. Not the correct word, however. try "authority." I've been to Providence, though, and isn't God provident?
That's way off topic, but for the record:

prov·i·dence ( P ) Pronunciation Key (prv-dns, -dns)
n.
 1. Care or preparation in advance; foresight.
dictionary.com. The use doesn't seem to bother me. Maybe I'm wrong, but it took me all of 10 seconds to post, and it should be understood as such. Either way, let's stick to my point:

Been here for over a year and 2 months and counting. I've seen the threads. Again, I KNOW people with them. How about you? If anyone has an opinion and has never heard from someone who actually has one, they should reserve their bias and their judgement, so that other people can make good decisions. Do you know someone with a PB, in order to make your judgement and subsequent as yet unsubstantiated quips? Otherwise, I don't see your comments about the part above as helping. Completely blind judgement in the guise of a product impression/evaluation does nothing for the community.

so when you said: "Why do you speak so badly, and with what providence?' you meant with what care or preparation in advance or foresight did I speak? I thought you meant with what authority...oh well.

I could give a *** whether anyone likes their plasma booster or not, but the above ref was there for people to read about it for themselves. The general opinon on this forum is the PB is an archetype of the hoodwink. As I recall, some brave soul opened their PB and found nothing but a circuit to light the LED's. the search function is great; this post was made at about the time Ingsoc made adulthood:

I find this pretty interesting..... is somewhere in all of the Plasma bashing is there any mention of "plasma" being the 4th state of matter.......look up the technology behind "plasma screens" I guess I always thought that is what they are referring to. As You can see i have one in my car....... I know that Peter still believes in it but all the controversy was affecting his blood pressure and health and as Sun Tzu said, (oops I loaned out my copy of "Art of War' to someone who has not returned it.... something about 'choosing your battles') Anyway, he said something clever that would support my point......so he (Peter) decided to just drop it and let it go......health returned and the PB is never to be mentioned again....... So I will make a comment,........... after dealing with the dreaded "stumble, bumble, flat spot, yo-yo for at least a year and trying every expert solution totally frustrated and about to sell the Mini.........the completely bogus, fraudulant, worthless, laughable, etc,...etc ad nauseum......fixed it........ I'm sure it was some coincidence with Jupiter aligning with Mars because the PB could have had nothing to do with it.............go figure.

Yes JLM I couldn't give a s*** what you think about the PB, but you are wrong, no one opened up the PB (wich is impossible as it is potted).
And the unit you refering to was an Ebay special and had nothing to do with the PB. We have not sold the PB for close to 2 years........and that's it.

Testy now, old man? Problem, I'm 23, and I was 21 when that was posted. I was three years past adulthood. Good providence. Funny that you would be the one using such childish and inflammatory language, being the old one and all.

Anyways, I'm glad that you answered my question. You have never seen a PB in real life, never will, never have known anyone who had one, and still are quick to flame. Got it.

Thanks for the thoughtful post, Spider . I have heard much the same, as I've got like 4 friends with them, and they've _all_ said the same thing. It's good to see real feedback on products, and I can only hope that interested parties can find this good feedback and find the truth, amongst all of the flaming, spamming, and general circumlocution I see all too often.

mis-read or read-into or whatever you want, but my statement was to post a link to more opinions than just yours. And guess what, the links speak for themselves. so what does it matter whether I have one or not?

did I say anything about M7? sounds like peter is the one sensitive about a product he quit selling 2 years ago.

Frankly, I'm not interested in the threads. I've read them [I have told you a second time now]. AND, in reading them, I'm off put by how much hearsay, nth hand information, and generally presumptive stuff is relayed. That thread is completely useless to a person seeking information, just like your comment, copied below, on the last page:

Being as how the M7 cam was being discussed and then you mentioned a "plasma booster" critically, knowing well that M7 had it first, 2 years ago, I'd say it's pretty easy to understand which PB you were referring to.

The fact remains, you said, "you are kidding...," completely of your own opinion, which you have not once since shown to have a base in any reality- quite the opposite. It is still sold, by a different company, and people still buy it and use it happily. That's what kind of general impression you ought to be giving, if any- one based in fact.

Actually, it was Motorsport3 who brought up the plasma booster in reference to M7's claims to only bring great products to market and I asked him if he was kidding. But there you go again, re-wrting history with abandon. (sorry for the mixed pres references, couldn't resist)

don't kid yourself; there have been many instances on this forum where the phrase "Plasma Booster" is used as indicating a joke. Do you think I make this stuff up?

from the mouth of Ingsoc:
"I have heard much the same, as I've got like 4 friends with them, and they've _all_ said the same thing."
" I'm off put by how much hearsay, nth hand information, and generally presumptive stuff is relayed."
and finally: "my butt talks "

by the way, it may be impossible for M7 to open one up, but that doesn't mean it can't be done.

once again readers, do a search for plasma booster and form your own opinions.

Plasma Booster...

I had a plasma booster (PB; manufactured by Ignition Solutions in San Diego, CA and marketed/sold by M7 in Lakewood, CA) installed at about the time I started modifying my car. The initial impression was that the car seemed smoother when I accelerated to 6k or so. There was comment on this forum at that time about placebo effect, and I responded that my impression was that of a smoother response. Contrary to what others claimed, I never noticed an improvement in fuel economy. That was based on actually filling the tank, not using the car's computer/calculator. Furthermore, there was no perception of an increase in power. A number of months ago I removed the PB, primarily because I have Nology wires (capacitance), and such wires don't work well with a PB, according to the owner of Ignition Solutions. Interestingly, a dyno run showed no loss (or gain) of power or torque after the unit was removed. BTW, this was when the car had Ireland Engineering wires. I prefer to have the Nology wires and give up whatever smoothness I may have felt (or imagined). Of note, I paid a total of $310 for the PB and installation. If anyone is interested in buying this piece for $100 + $6 shipping, please send me a pm. This might be of interest to those of you who would like to have an M7 logo on their PB. Hopefully, when it was removed, the wires weren't cut. BTW, WHY CAN'T I FORMAT MY POSTS??

I did not get more power or torque or gas milage but the car is smoother and I have nology wires.......I may be doing it all wrong but it is running better....Placebo effect......don't know......I bought my unit used and the price was in the neighborhood of what your asking but less.......I would not have paid retail for the unit regardless...at my investment I am happy

i have had a Promini cam on my rig for a couple of years. Minimal improvement, if any, over similarly modded cars. (head, header, Apexi, injectors, 19%).
Freaked when I started it up the first time...lots of clicking. took about 50 miles before the hydraulic adjusters pumped up.

Endyn claimed they were coming out with a cam and if they do, it would definitely be worth a look, assuming the Mini still exists.
