Dynoing my MCSa

Any suggestions to help this go off without a hitch? The place will have fans for my intercooler. Dyno will occur on Nov 26th

Figure I will find out what my mods have done to my car. I have 1/4mile times but no other way to measure its performance. And before you ask, I don't have a pre-mod dyno hp.

Where are you having the dyno done?

Does the MCSa have a physical kickdown switch? i.e. Can you "floor it" at relatively low RPM without having it kick down into a lower gear?

No, at least I don't think so. I have to push down past a point and I get WOT.

Also Dyno of the MCS/MCSa is done in 4th gear right?

A while back, we tried to dyno my CVT Cooper and it wouldn't work. Even in the manual mode, the computer would take over and 'shift' so we couldn't hold the engine at the right RPM to get an accurate measurement.

Hopefully, the MCS auto will work differently.

Good luck!

When I had my MCS automatic dyno'd there were two issues:

- From what I could tell the automatic forces an upshift at 6750 even though I have the MTH software with the higher rev limit on it. Even in manual mode. There was plenty of power left in the engine too. Arrggghhh...

- When the upshift happened the DynoJet data acquisition software crashed hard - system had to be cold booted. In the end they couldn't provide air/fuel data. Don't know if this problem was unique to the version of DynoJet software my tester was using but it certainly was irritating.

As an aside, I've verified that on the street the car will force an upshift at 6750 RPM in first, second and third gears. Really wish this wasn't the case.

gmcdonnell thank you for your insight. I am slightly worried about the same problems. But I wonder if it will be different with my car. Reason being since I added the lightweight crank pulley the car revs much higher. As much as 7k if your really pushing it. So I wonder if I can mease hp and tourque to that high rev.

Before the pulley shifts occured at a max of 6600 rpm.
