Well at least we'll have some test subjects for the noise theory! JK

You all think I'm kidding ... I'm not. When I got the Borla Race she kept asking when it was going to get loud. ROFL.

It pays to get married to someone who loves sports cars

Ignorance is bliss. How many of you go to concerts? Gotta be at least a few of us. Guess what you just lost 1% of your hearing.

Here's something better to fight about, rather than noise polution how about the people who smoke cigs in front of other and don't care. I'll take hearing lose for 1000 and cancer for 0 alex.

LET IT GO, K THANKS

P.S. WTB ADULTS AND NOT LITTLE KIDS FOR THIS THREAD

Just for grins go to www.secom.com..... that is my company......look at the link to "L-Acoustics"...... I have been selling concert systems for 25 years as well as studio refernce monitors, look ar "KRK" Not that I am proud of it but I represented the Bose corporation in their proffesional division for 20 years....been to the mountain... met Dr Bose and listened to him lecture on more than one occassion. I represented Crown amplifiers for 20 years as well as the still industry leading audio test gear the "TEF" machine. I have been trained and can use all of that equipment with accuracy...... I could go on and on with this....we just sold the new sound system for the Atlanta airport. I sold the amplifier system to the GA Dome etc etc etc so this got under my skin a little .... not the best version of me ..

Its okay I understand, but this has been going on for a few days lately. Would be cool if we could get back to a point where randy was interested in telling us about the new happenings and possible changes of the system rather than him having to come on here and defend himself against things that are not an issue right now.

Don't get me wrong i feel at open valve it's loud but when it's closed I like the fact it is quiet. If I am going to have the valve open for track driving i might possibily wear earplugs.

All I can say is go to the winter nationals and then tell me about noise polution omg your heart rumbles.

You would be better off using 3 ft, since that would mean you are only off by a little over 8.4%. I'm very sorry that I upset you, but you were wrong.

look it up yourself ....google "inverse square law"...... better yet buy SAMS Audiocyclopedia or Don Davis's book on Sound System Engineering or pehaps the Yamaha book on "Church" sound sytems or perhaps you should attend a SYN-AUD-CON seminar taught by Pat Brown. Maybe teach seminars on the fundamentals of sound and sound systems to countless new audio sales people.

I have edited my prior posts as I had lost my patience .

If you all really want to understand what we were talking about there are several goods sites you can "google."

Ok SpiderX, sounds good.

We all know that Randy wants this exhaust to have a volume comparable to a Miltek with the valve closed and that he won't be releasing something unless he's happy. He's already said there's some more work to be done to get it quieted down a little. Also, Randy said that he's going to keep this exhaust legal in racetracks with the valve open. He knows what the tracks want and I'm sure he will be testing accordingly.

I really don't see how any more talks about volume (and how it's measured) are going to help in the developement. Good luck Randy; can't wait to see the final product

Wouldn't a helmet be considered a layer of hearing protection?

Thanks for the Holiday greetings...... back at you.

I ended up at the Nissan dealer trading in my Sport Cross for an Xterra and had to cancel. I'm sorry if i have let anyone down. I spoke with Randy yesterday and he is going to start conducting some tests. I am only a volunteer, Randy is planning to get the exhaust that was on my car shipped to CO for further testing dynos etc. Anything I do at this point is really redundant and secondary to the "official" tests. I am glad that I could be a part of this project but I am backing out so as not to confuse you all. The issues of loudness/power and what the final design is in its "final" stages. I will sit back like the rest of you anxiously awaiting. Of course I am still on the team if I or my car is needed but I think the communication and tests at this point should come from CO as it is Randy's $/time/company/reputation etc.

Bob

Talked with Randy

Had the oppportunuty to talk with Randy yesterday about a number of things including the exhaust. He is really trying to make the decibels Milltek like (not necessarily sound like the Milltek – there is a difference). It looks like he is still working on the muffler and maybe sourcing a different one that will help quiet the system down. Remember, the objective is to extract as much HP as posible in the track mode while balancing HP and sound in the "street" mode. Needless to say, we should all be patient until there is a final product, backed up by the required dyno tests.

Hi Randy,

Have you considered using a 2.5" tube for the restricted side of the exhaust to keep the noise down? That little bit of restriction shouldn't matter at low cruising revs. This is probably a cheaper solution than to use a great big muffler.

Any more news on this? I know Randy was still determining when the release date would be, so anyone have any idea?

A little impatient, but really excited for this exhaust.

It's potentially very close. He has a production version, but needs to do a little more work to check it out yet. He is on the road now to the Los Angeles pulley party this weekend, and then is heading up to the Phil Wicks Laguna Seca event in the middle of the week. Since he's probably not going to be online very much as a result of those two events, and Brian is with him, I wouldn't expect to see any offical update in the next several days.

I was also very excited... But the impatience grew, and the current NAM Vendor 15% off sale was enough to make me pull the trigger on a complete Milltek system.
