recommend a belt with 15% pulley?

I've searched but searching this forum for pulley doesn't work quite well. Almost every thread has the word pulley in it.

I'm about to get a 15% pulley and notice Helix sells a belt for the stock and 15% pulleys. Webb Motorsports doesn't mention the belt when talking about the pulley. I'm just curious if a short belt should be installed when using the 15% pulley. Or if the standard belt works fine with the difference in pulley size compared to factory. A friend said something about a different size belt and this was the first time I heard so I thought I would ask here.

Most people tell me they use the stock size belt.

The stock belt works just fine on the 15% pulley.

Consider when you do the pulley, you put on a new belt - If for no other reason than you can inspect it to see if there are any new pulley issues developing. Also how many miles you have on the old belt would be of influence. New pulley why not a new belt - Its a conservative approach for what $20 ?

Thanks.

This will be my second MINI, first with pulley, so the belt will have less than 1,500 miles on it by the time I get the pulley installed.

I've just picked up a Dayco Poly-Rib 6PK1365 - 538K6 on the reccomendation from another mate who fitted it....haven't fitted it yet...

if you've got it all off...why not replace the belt?

Does anyone have experience with Goodyear's "Gatorback" belt products for this application? Part #? Cost?

Gatorbacks (as a type) work fine, grip very well - and whine more than stock. And no there isn't a *need* to change for a 15%, however anything more does need a smaller belt.

For a 15% pulley you can use the stock belt. But if you are going to change it, the belt from your local Napa Auto Parts store part number 060539 is the correct size.

Hi everyone:

After a track day, my pulley belt looks like is near to break too... Would you tell me which kind of belt should I buy? Like which one is the strongest or most reliable one?

Thanks a lot
Happy motoring
