would this make any difference with the HAI? thus bypassing the need for longer tubage?

Update?

Did anybody ever put one of these on an MCS with a 6 speed and acutally test it?

yes...all the testing was done....sorry I never posted it. I found it to be something that in the end was unnessisary for the community...

basically I'll tell you it's unnessisary...what I mean is...the little black tube is not the answer...it's the quality of the filter element.....I tested all the pipes with open Throttle bodies and there was no change...it was the filters that made the difference...

tuls,

would you please post these results, perhaps in a new thread.

given that andy measured a very small pressure drop across the stock filter and and a previous poster on mini2 saw only a 1-2 hp increase with NO stock filter, your results would add to the data available ( and maybe create yet another controversial thread that will go on and on... )

thanks

if I have time....basically my data is no different....only a couple HP at best with no air filter...but the that's why the filter it's self matters..and even then we are talking 3 hp differences...this is NOT important enough to worry about...that's why I always told epople to get the air filter they LIKE best...cuase the hp we are talking is not enough that you will notice

I hope I can ask this w/o stirring up controversy... And, maybe I'm just missing something... But, what you seem to be saying is that there is only a 3hp delta between the stock airbox and an open throttle body. If that's the case, how do we explain the gains people have seen with various intake/filter arrangements?

It might help if you explain which quoted gains you speak of, just to be more specific...do you mean personal gains or expected/advertised gains?

Most of the personal dynos that people had were around 3hp. Of course companies say its around 10 hp....but have never seen that come true in a real life dyno.

Gotcha I was speaking of vendor-quoted/advertized gains (eg. XYZ CAI "makes" 10 HP).

oh sorry I...the tests were all with after markey filters...not stock...it was more about the SID tube than a filter expirement...

Also, I would like to avoid any controversy at this piont which is why I would rather let this die than post any thing...I am tired of going round and round over a MAX of maybe 10 hp

the point is...non of them made a difference...it was the filter that made a diff...and if you look at the original intake shoot out thread..well the results are in...foam filters rule....

BMP kit was free....had it layin around for our first mini race car we never used it on. Was given to us anyways by the sponsor.

I was thinkin about using there shield still and getting a bigger conical filter.

Tuls, I looked in your gallery and can not see any pictures of the tube. I am interested in looking at them. If anyone has pictures of this tube, can you post a link or show them? Thanks.

I agree that it will not make much of a difference, because it is too obstructive. I do believe in the benefits of the AGS, but not in its original form. There is a lot of improvements to be made, such as in the head, header and exhaust. Unless you want to make a turbo, that is not my taste. Thanks for the photo.
