PS
I resent the NERD BLOOD comment...I am a proud nerd and my NERD BLOOD heritage is offended...please keep all references to Nerd Bloods out of this...Much like Malfoy in Harry Potter calling Hermoine a MUD BLOOD...I think someone has some serious frustration they need to release...maybe if you got some NERD BLOOD action it would cool someone off...no names are being mentioned due to the fact of this NERD BLOOD not wanting to be igored like Andy...even though I'm use to ignorance...umm...I mean being ignored.

If you where a vendor and had to take all the crap we have to endure daily,
you would react to. In this case it was a blatant use of our name in the header, not a comparison to our product and that is not ok.
Regarding Andy, if you been around on this forum for an extended time
you would know that Andy has been on our backs since day one, that's
why he is on my ignore list (the only one).

oh look...MINI knew you were buying it and included it in their files for vaccuum lines

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/o/5515.png

cant tell if this is the MCS or MCSa from this angle....if there is a difference(they dont mention one like they do with the CVT differences)

Its the one towards the bottom....assuming its number 15 or 16?

EDIT:....apparently realoem doesnt allow me to link? Let me know if you can see them?

stick around longer, and you will understand that it has come from constant bickering of some "less-mature" individuals who have rather negative views on life

This is kinda interesting.... Why is the tube from a MCSa better than a MCS. Why would it gain any more power if the hp ratings are identical?

BTW, if anyone is interested, it looks like El D is posting about it on MetroplexMINI.org.

hes posting about it all over

I asked the same question as you.

I would believe that the changes would be made in order to account for the auto tranny mounting. The 05 cooper had to change the intake box and filter due to new mounting sizes....so perhaps this is the same thing. Again, this is just my 2 cents...i dont know enough about the original part to really analyze the difference. It doesnt help that my part number refrences dont show a difference between the duct in the MCSa versus the MCS.

And if it were to fit both models AND give HP (whether it be small or 20 HP), why would MINI spend MORE money on having 2 different molds processing 2 different ducts....especially if one worked less well then the other one . It seems like they would save money in the ABS manufacturing process AND gain a little HP on the base MCS while saving that money. Car companies are rather well known for saving money when they can

I am not comparing it 6spd vs auto...is it a retro fit for the 02-04

I even think I'll flow test it...being that we know that the stock "sucks", and the AGS makes power but not as much as other filters...and at 60 bux who can go wrong if this OEM piece ends up make as much or more than other intakes or in combination

So does the 05 MCS have this part as well? What does the part look like on the 02's-04's?

Again, i wonder if it is determined by the new mounts....would be interesting to find out.

interesting that the AGS was singled-out and brought into it for no reason

I have a feeling that it may gain you a little horsepower, but i doubt any more than one HP (unless the 02-04 one is terribly designed?). And so the bang per buck ratio would be about 60:1. I didnt check the exact numbers....but that seems pretty close to the buck:bang ratio of the AGS which certain people thoroughly enjoy to mock for its low power gains based on price

It is possible the mounts got in the way...or the clutch cable etc...I intend to

The tube is 2.5 inches start to finish...that would put in in as good a flow range as the AGS

The AGS was only "singled out" because these two pieces are replacing the same thing....the 05 MCS does not have this...It is possible the mounts got in the way...or the clutch cable etc...I intend to look at an MCSA and do some more research...

as for what it looks like...ummm a think black tubie thing in place of a skinny one...LOL....I am just kidding ...I'll post other pics when I do the write up for the power and flow gains...oh and you should here it!!
