No, problem

Could you elaborate on the 90 degree angle in the filter? I think i know what you are talking about, but maybe im mistaken? It seems to me that any filter that isnt a panel filter will have turbulence inside of it. A cylindrical one will have air coming in from all sides which would cause some conflict as the air attempts to make it into the SID. And a cone would seem to be the same way.

Take a look at the photos of the AGS. I'd post one here to help illustrate my point, but have gotten angry PM's for doing so in the past. The air must travel through a very narrow slit of air filter material and immediately make a 90 degree turn into the throttle body. Other intake designs (both stock and aftermarket) do not have the same sort of limitation. With the AGS, the path from the throttle body to the supercharger is straighter (and shorter!), but the path from the throttle body to the outside unfiltered world looks less straight.

as I recall, every 90 degree bend is the flow restriction equivalent of 6' (?) more pipe length.

Relative to what kind of diameter? Theoretically speaking, if the diameter of the channel is 60', then 6 add'l feet of pipe doesn't matter much. Sorry to split hairs, just wondering what the reference is.

ok thats what i thought you were talking about. Without tests i would have a hard time believeing that the 90 degree path in the filter would be any different then the multi-directional, conflicting flow created by rounder and longer filters. Mind you, i dont think that turbulence is very harmful in terms of performance, but im sure it exists.

So with my theory (above) the available filters/cones teamed up with the SID *might* have a bit more turbulence due to the 90 degree in the duct teamed with the turbulence in the filter versus the single turbulence present in the AGS filter.

Marty

Along this line, what is the relationship between increasing diameter and turbulence when it comes to a 90 degree bend? Does the turbulence increase as the diameter of the pipe increases, or does it actually decrease? I would assume that the answer is dependent on how fast the air is going

Yep, no way to know for sure without testing it. Likewise, I suspect an AGS with an HKS-style filter would offer benefits, if it could be made to fit.

Wow the ignorance and arrogance is unbeliveable! I love it! at least it makes great entertainment!

anyways...
Peter at M7 quite a bold statement you made about tuners not being able to afford a plastic mold like that... watch what you say... you haven't the slightest clues of some vendors backgrounds... you might just find yourself quite suprised... but thats not why i am bringing this fact up...

i think i found out why Peter/and/or M7 people are getting upset about the discovery of this new SID... it was in one of peter/m7s post on the first page... "a tuner couldn't afford a mold for that" (not his words exactly but you can go back and read it for yourselfs) THAT is the key as to why he is so upset!!! He paid a ridiculous amount of money for a mold for a product... a product has struggled to live up to its claims of being the best intake out their... and now it has a brand new competitor... BMW/MINI! A factory part! Now this new SID is now threating his AGS... How will he ever make his money back for his mold if everyone starts buying the SID from the parts counter for 60 bucks... hmm... if i was him... id be upset too... but sometimes you just have to suck it up...

and as far as the AGS term... you should have trade marked it... you don't have a leg to stand on... TULs showed his respect as did all of the other people on this board to refer to it as SID... at least they didn't call it the AGS-KLR or something like that... hey that would make a good license plate...

Joker, FWIW I find your diction a bit difficult to understand as well.

Interesting find on the MCSa SID (I love TLAs!) But TULS, don't you want it named after you? Maybe the Totally Uber Long-flow-path Shortener (TULS)?

It has already been tested on MANY cars and definetly makes power. I just installed it on mine and the best part in my opinion is that I can use the intake I already spent money on.....

I am not sure the exact fitment with the alta...etc etc...It should work however I have a "hybrid" intake now that is a mix of parts that alow me to connect my filter directly to the pipe comming off the throttle body. The only thing I could see right now is that the alta's setup is ver specific...so either the tube would have to change or the heat shield...this is all in theory...however...if ALTA wants to make a new tube for the MCSa then it shouldn't be an issue....

I think that ALTA is going to make a tube for the MCSa.

I'm not seeing the connection here between the color of someone's skin and their ability to write in a ledgible manner. Are you trying to make one?

P.S. June Cleaver is White.

Uh, actually, he was (correctly) referencing my comment regarding jive (and translation thereof), as picked up by Marty, Greatbear, and hopefully a host of others, and marvelously acted by Barbara Billingsley in the '70's movie 'Airplane!'
Rallymini deftly translated your jargon into a more easily understandable prose, just as Barbara did in the movie, hence the reference.

Golly!
