Quietest air intake (w.r.t. interior of car)

Regarding my car, at least, I'm into quiet. I'm planning on adding an aftermarket air intake to my MCS along with a 17% pulley. Looking for the quietest aftermarket air intake that still adds as much horsepower as reasonably possible. In this case when I mean quiet I mean from the driver's perspective with the windows / sunroof closed.

From what I have heard the JCW intake is the quietest...but what's right behind it? Alta? AGS? Pipercross?

Anyone who's had multiple intakes is especially welcome to offer comments!

From what I have heard the JCW is the quietest. Followed by BMP and Pilo. Also understand that with a smaller supercharger pulley your supercharger will be sucking more air and therefore create more air noise.

Alta's will give you alot of SC noise. But if you are not putting your foot into it, it is quiet. Best performer in my opinion. SC noise is great, BTW.

04 MSC, sport pkg, 15% pulley, Alta CAI, Alta Big IC, Milltek exhaust, Unichip, densos.

Quiet and performance are mutually exclusive attributes. Adding the 19% pulley is going to increase the S/C noise because the blower vanes are spinning faster. I imagine that the increased S/C noise is going to overwhelm any reduced noise from an air intake. I think you need to re-think your priorities.

The JCW intake is not really quiet, at least not the way I drive  It may not be gasping with noise like some when you touch the gas at all, but it opens up at 4500 rpm and the supercharger makes itself known - and the way the MCS powerband is 4500 can come up a lot

Don't forget about the Dinan intake, which acts/sounds very similar to the JCW one.. eVal pretty much summed it up, only difference is, it doesn't have the flap that opens up at 4500 rpm.. it's actually "open" the whole RPM band..

No "gasping noise" everytime you step on the gas, but you know it's there..

The rogue is fairly quiet. I had one on for a while, and found it a good deal quieter than the BMP I had before it. And if you decide that you want more sound, you can ventilate the plastic partition behind it.

I modified the stock airbox by cutting a piece out of the back of the lower half & cutting a matching piece out of the wall. I joined them with foam insulation. With the stock paper filter, this is probably the quietest modded intake setup. Switching to a K&N made it a bit louder. I like it - looks completely stock & sounds nice but isn't overpowering.

Any of the setups that leave the plastic cowl panel in place will be quieter than the ones that remove/modify it.

Andy's absolutely right! However, the theory is that without the cowl cutout, you don't get the maximum HP potential out of the intake. Therefore, JCW made the compromise; the flap only opens when you're driving aggressively, the rest of the time, it's shut and it's quiet like your stock intake.

The simplest, cheapest, and quietest intake upgrade would be to simply replace the stock paper filter with a high performance one such as a K&N.

I did that for a couple years until I got my Alta. . . .

You will get a little bit of power out of it and it will stay as quiet as stock.

The problem with the K&N filter replacement only is-very little gain for the $. You would not be able to tell the difference from stock. The power claims from the K&N commercials and the Fram's air hog are laughable.
