Dry Ice/Intercoolers

I'm looking for some suggestions to help force some cool dense air into our intercoolers for track day use only given the extreme heat & humidity we have been having this summer. We all know how our cars run in these conditions. Has anyone tried dry ice ? I really don't want to spend the money for a larger intercooler- ( and it seems the jury is still out on whether they help much for track use ) and a water mist spray system would be great - but too complicated for a couple of lapping days a year.

I would think that a CO2 bottle, hooked up to the IC Sprayer would work wonders. I have never trued this, but why wouldn't it?

I've heard the Cryo2 system works pretty well, as long as you can isolate it from your intake stream.

Some dry ice might help but I dont know how many blocks you need for the whole track session... Many i guess!

Water sprayer... hmmm, good idea! Like this?

Regarding dry ice. This is a more involved install but with a interesting result. When BMP came out to Willow springs a couple of years ago for the Eurotuner challenge they had a water jacketed intercooler system set up. They had a tank in the rear hatch to hold the water/ ice / dry ice ,you name it . As it was about 95 degrees that day they opted for the dry ice . After all was said and done they actually thought the dry ice may have been over kill as the temp at the water outlet in the cooler was about 47 degrees. In this situation they realized that regular ice would have probably been better.

If a larger IC is out of your budget, why not try the Alta diverter. It comes with a water sprayer. I would think trying to divise something to hold the dry ice above the intercooler and still not impede the air flow would be difficult.

We use dry ice in our autocross runs and by the end of 60 seconds it has all disappeared.....

I really doubt you could pack enough dry ice on there to last a 15 minute session......
