Drivetrain Anyone Dyno a MCSA?
Anyone Dyno a MCSA?
Anyone? I'm just curious how much pavement hp a car like mine pushes stock. Because once I pop a 15 or 16% pulley on it I'm wondering what the hp difference will be to the pavement.
Each car/engine can be quite a bit different, so one person's numbers may not reflect yours. Best thing you can do if you want to have an idea of your numbers, IMHO, is do your own before and after dyno on the same day you have the mod done (as long as the temps are close, if you do the first dyno when its 70 and its 95 later on the heat difference with mess with the basis for comparison).
By the way, if you have the SES light your car is running rich and as I understand it, this can have a negative effect on your dyno numbers.

But yes a dyno run before and after is the best way to know.

An interesting thing happened to an MCSa at the last autocross with our BMWCCA chapter - one of the axle shafts worked its way out! Made a godawful sound, too. I'm not sure if this will happen to all drivers who punish their cars around an autocross course, but it sure was surprising to me (not to mention the driver!).

When it shifted at 6600 RPM it was making about 154 HP. The output was still climbing nicely. Extrapolating the curve based on the shape of several other Cooper S graphs I've seen I'd say 156 HP at 7000 RPM is about right; in any case I'm happy with 154 HP at 6600 RPM.
The only mods to the car are MTH software, six coats of Zaino and a short antenna. I am probably going to do an intake and pulley and dyno it again down the road.

Sounds good. So the hp loss wasn't to much considering the transmission.
Any idea on the tourque #?
