Here's why: THe twinscrew has very tight (much tighter than Eaton designs) so the manufacturing costs are higher. Couple that with the high licensing charges to make them to the holder of the IP, and you get a very high cost unit.

All told, the TVS design has much improved TEs, lower cost manufacturing, and the only thing that sucks is right now, it's only really done via OEMs who design the integrated cases, and I haven't seen the "bolt on aftermarket" versions like there are for the non-TVS Gen iV/V Eaton units. But anyway, as long as the licensing costs for the twin screw stay high, I'm thinking they've priced themselves out of the market, especially here in the states....

Best case for just the release of the TVS rotors for our little 1.6L motor is now late 2010 unfortunately. A bolt on TVS replacement for our M45 will be sometime after that...

Subject: FW: HTV900 release date yet
Scott:
Unfortunately Eaton Corporation has yet to release its R900 to its Aftermarket distribution partners (Harrop included) and it is anticipated the release will be at least 12 months away. There is very limited OEM development, which is key to releasing the R900 into the Aftermarket. The best option available is the HTV1320, which Harrop has been producing for well over a year. I assure you I am well aware the HTV1320 is too large for most 1.6L engines, but without any other options available its either continue to wait or consider the HTV1320 for your development.
BTW, I was employed at Eaton Corp for 29 years and assure you that when Eaton says 12 months that is a best estimate (i.e., its likely going to be longer!)
