Which intercooler????

I am trying to figure out what type of intercooler I should pick up next. I am going to be doing a lot of drag racing and autocrossing with maybe one or two track days a year.

I want something that won't heat soak while doing a burnout before a run down the track. But I also want something that will stay cool an entire autocross run.

Price isn't a variable here, I just want to get a few opinions on what would work the best for what I'm doing.

Have you talked to Randy Webb at Webbmotorsports.com?

Options include-
Front mounted large air to air intercooler- up to 17 HP gain and expensive!

Air to air top mount intercoolers-
Alta costs less and gains about 6 HP
GRS costs a little more and gains up to about 10 HP
Forge- Randy didn't like the design of the ends but testing is needed.

Water cooled IC
Several sources- WMS might be worth a look for efficient cooling when used for autocross, drag racing and street use.

Maybe combine a top mounted IC with the M7 bonnet scoop!

One note- I saw a posted picture of an upgraded IC behind the stock bonnet scoop and the air flow didn't look optimal- it was kinda blocked so I would ask about that.

Although the GRS seems like a wonderful unit according to the venerable Mr. Webb, the Alta top-mount still has the squirting feature (which as far as I know is lacking with the GRS), which might make a difference if things get hot. I'm trying to decide between these two myself, and the lower priced Alta with shpritzer is quite attractive...

The more research the better on this mod.
