what the...?

Peter switched midstream, get it? first he advertised he was going to prove his claims, then he refused to do so, but maintained his claims. This switch is entirely what the controversy is about.

Here is my one and only issue with M7, as it pertains to the AGS. The following quotes show promises made by M7 and then a going back on those promises. This occurred long before the posting of "Andy's new plan" as you like to refer to it.

You can't have it both ways. Deliver what you promise or don't say anything at all.

and M7.

Maybe i didnt mean "following" Andy's new plan as much as, Peter is still playing by the new rules that Andy has presented to NAM, so peter technically shouldnt get any hassle....he is following the new vendor rules afterall
Wow

That sounds like a bunch of crap...... Its a bit imature of a manufacture to crumble to some people on a forum don't you think?

Not much confidence in the product is what that shows me. But i think in a quick read of the other thread about companies owning up that you guys mentioned i read something that is completely true. Why should companies post any data if a bunch of fools are going to go running buy it anyways???

Again, how many MINI people own $700+ exhuasts?????

I dont see controversy there....Someone, i forget who it was...convinced them that it would be in their best interest not to show the numbers....its up to them.

Secondly, he really only makes the claim that its the best out there....but how would you quantify the word best with just numbers...there are so many meanings to "best". They call french fries and toothpaste the best if 9 out of 10 dentists approve of the toothpaste, or if 5 out of 7 people like the fries. From what i have read, everyone with an AGS loves it thus far. I havent seen an unhappy customer. So there is the backup to the claim that it's the best...just like any goofy TV advertisement....AGS, 8 out of 9 people approve....something like that. I have no clue that its the best, but many advertisements call things the best and back it up with the appreciating customer numbers. They aren't doing anything controversial thus far....just being normal vendors.

Again, if you have problems with these MINI vendors, please dont zero in on only them, take it up with companies like AOL who says its the "easiest and best service provider, these 10 people agree" or burger king with their "#1 fries", or any Paid for TV commercial that has the "best" mop, or the "best" knife set.

the claim he made that was not backed up wasn't only that it was the best, but THAT HE WAS GOING TO PROVE IT. (caps for emphasis)

He said he was going to...and now he isnt....that's his choice. The company made a decision to not release the numbers.

If you want to be cheesy about it like some TV spokesperson, you could always say hes proving it by selling them to customers and letting them see for themselves Kidding on that one

So he changed his mind... it happens. Maybe someone should go edit the posts.

I don't feel like M7 is getting targeted or picked on necessarily. It's just that they're the ones doing so much advertising lately - directly and indirectly. Posts in vendor announcements, posts in the forums, posts in the "what spring should I buy" thread, then all of the duplicate followup posts by customers.

YEEEEEEHA The AGS is here and it is sure purrty to look at The construction is first class...looks like factory items. The air cleaner is HUGE and crisply molded. Knowing the numbers that JCampos has gotten, I'm really excited to install this ASAP (raining tomorrow) Wish I had more gallery space so I can post my install images

Thank God you don't have to buy Viagra to be warned that it might cause an erecti0n lasting more than 4 hours. Sheesh If that ain't an interesting business practive, I don't know what is. Way to make the people who were honestly waiting for the numbers and not taking sides pay (or not pay, as it were).

Fed-ex showed up earlier and I have just finished taking apart the front end of the car.... now I am taking a little break before I dive in and install my new AGS

I am attempting to document the process so I hope to have pics up before I leave for the Dragon.

Off for a beer and then the install!

Is that what it says to do in the instruction manual? Knowing Peter, it probably is.

Not really but my back is killing me from leaning over the front end of the car and Advil isn't as quick as Abita Turbo Dog.

I'm now on my second rest (beer that is), my back is on fire. I have to put back the TB and the filter and then I can get the car back together.

The install really isn't that bad, you just have to take apart or loosen a whole lot of crap to get in there.

I gotta say that I really like the design of this thing and can appreciate what they went through to get this together.

Did you just get the AGS or did you also get the 62mm throttle body? It would be nice to see the data and/or observations from someone who only installed the AGS. It appears that some people are confusing the combo package (AGS + TB) with the AGS alone. Thanks, and enjoy...
