Andy, it wasnt meant as an insult so Im sorry if it sounded that way. We both know how skeptical you are about alot of products, so I just made a joke about it. I took the comment down last night.

MPR, I think it does make the Alta sound like crap. You can think it sounds ricey if you want... i can think it sounds great.... who cares. Not me. You just seemed to direct it AS an insult towards me.

Why don't you send this guy an AGS, get his credit card info, give him a few weeks or a month to dyno (then give the option of purchase or return), then charge his credit card if it's not returned within that time frame? Easy way to avoid "getting burned." Would you rather have someone of your choice or a random customer dyno this on a stock car? I think a few people might be wary of the response below. It made me think twice.

You see Marty, this is why we don't it....No matter what you say or do
there will be conspiracy theorists, doubters and.....(you fill in the blank).

If we state 12Hp someone will dig it up, and hold it against us when they
only get 10.5.....there's no winning by posting numbers.

There will be plenty of units out on the market place within 30 days and
some of these guys will be at the Dragon including www.detroittuned.com
They will give it a fair shakedown with thousands of miles/ dynoruns
to give everyone an idea what the "Air Gain System" is all about.

Well, I don't know Matt Harris, but if he's in the Auburn, AL headquarters of APR, then that is a 30 minute drive from Columbus, GA for me. I would be happy to volunteer to observe Matt's installation and dyno testing of the AGS on his car. I've also got a completely stock '04 MCS with 21K miles on it that we could subject to the dyno with and without the AGS.

Let me add something if i may. We are just now ramping up production and we have had to prioritize our completed units.

The priorities are.

1/ Prepaid customers
2/ Preordered customers and preordered dealers
3/ New orders
4/ Evaluation pieces.

I know this may sound strange but we have several deadlines to meet in a very short time. Would we sell more pieces after a dyno run , we think so. Could we supply them at this moment , NO. We do not have the time at the moment to stop down and test something we can't keep in stock For those of you choosing to wait on dyno numbers we thank you as it is helping us take care of those who are not. I am sure that there will be numbers within the next week or two that will give you what you need. How this all came to be such a big deal is beyond me . Its just a car part we think it is a good one but bottom line it is a CAR PART. If you want to get worked up over something important watch the news and see what our troops are going thru. THAT is worthy of your emotion . Back to packing

Randy,

I know this is a little off topic, but I are still working on CSI? I knew you were at one time. If so, how do you have time to do that and this, man you must be busy.

Fair enough.

I guess if it's all hype, it will come out in the wash, and if it's a real gainer (consistent gains on the dyno), we'll hear all about it.

My only motivation in this situation was to get a product that looks pretty cool for free and to provide you guys with dyno results that 'clarify' the situation either way. just for future reference, here's my place of business: http://www.goapr.com
Hey Matt, are you at the APR headquarters in ALABAMA? I used to own an 01 VW GTI, and I drove down there from Nashville to get chipped by you guys and check out what was then the new STAGE 3 turbo upgrade.

When I read your post about the 4wheel dyno, I wondered if you were an APR guy. I wish you guys tuned MINI's!!!! APR is many steps above all of the current stuff offered for the MINI!!! Well here's hoping, especially because the new MINI's will be turbocharged!!! Please tell your APR brothers to seriously consider tuning the MINI!!!

Oh, and by the way, this guys company, APR, would definately let us know if this intake made any true gains!!

Hey Matt, good to talk to you man, and I hope you're loving your new MINI!! They aren't as fast as the GTI's, etc., but they are way more fun!!

What Randy said makes perfect sense. If/when they catch up with all their backorders then it might be time to step back and see if any solid dyno numbers have shown up on the forum. If that has yet to occur at that point, then M7 might want to look at having some Dyno's done. And if that were to occur I certainly wouldn't mind having an independent person like KevinR there to observe. However, from a business standpoint, M7's current stance makes perfect sense. While it might not give immediate answers to the rabid folks here, data should be out there soon enough one way or another.

Hi Gavin. Yep, i'm an APR guy. As for us tuning Mini's, I don't know that that is very likely. We've got more than enough on our plate with just VAG products at the moment. But I have considered the possibility of delving into it a myself just to tweak A/F and timing a bit on my car. But we'll see. I don't have time to mess with it right now, and i'd have to bribe a couple of other guys here to clear up a few technical issues before I could even begin working on it. Anyway, we'll see how that goes.

And I agree, this car is so much more fun and interesting than a GTI, it's not even a competition!

Hey Matt, since I'm a former APR customer, and I don't want to support GIAC, etc., I would love for you guys to tune my ECU!! If you ever get around to messing with it yourself, send me a private message or whatever, and I will drive down there RIGHT NOW!!! Peace my brother!!

In order to devote more time to M7 I no longer work full time on CSI but still get in an occasional day or two a week as a " day player "to maintain my insurance and union card. This still leaves me 4 to 5 days a week for M7. As the show is now in hiatus I can go back to full time with M7 and just in time as I have to get back to shipping Thanks for asking.

This whole mess is a bit rediculous, but i really don't follow this thinking. Why go through weeks and weeks of R&D and not do dyno testing as part of it? Getting a stock MCS is so simple when your part of a major forum like this.

I'm an admin at Focaljet.com and one of our major sponsors FocusSport (aka EuroSport) always puts out anouncements for test cars. Sometimes people get free parts or a good discount for use of their car. Hell if your in Cali you probably could have gone and done some testing on their dyno since your not really a competitor to them.

Waiting to do dyno testing AFTER final product is a bit strange........ Its like a car company saying we have a final design but we'll let the public test the first thousand units and then we'll put it through crash and power testing.......

FocusSport has been so straight with the Focus community for so many years that when they post a dyno number we believe it because they've backed all their products year after year.

But i guess we'll all have to wait to see what this part can really do.

I'm pretty sure it has already been dyno'd, but they dont want to release the numbers. It's a new idea that Andy came up with. He just started a new thread about it, you should check it out. He says we should give vendors the choice to either not give out any numbers, and be free of questions, or they can give numbers, but should be ready to be assaulted by mass questions pertaining to how it was achieved, and why they should be believed

Also, dont forget, like a car company crash testing, M7 has had betas on many cars, and have put it through many runs before actually releasing it. So in the end, it has been tested to make sure it causes no problems, and it has been tested on the dyno, but the numbers wont be released which is following Andy's new plan.

cheers

Here is the thread im talking about, its Andy's new plan: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=42082

Actually, M7 appears to have decided on their approach long before the posting of "Andy's new plan."

This is very true, but if you go back and look into when M7 decided to do it(its in the AGS thread), you will notice they are doing it for the exact reason Andy mentions in the new plan, which is to avoid constant question on the believability of the numbers, and all of the questioning pertaining to how they were achieved. Maybe i didnt mean "following" Andy's new plan as much as, Peter is still playing by the new rules that Andy has presented to NAM, so peter technically shouldnt get any hassle....he is following the new vendor rules afterall
