It really lets you see what's going on.

The O2 senosr in most cars is a narrow band. So it has a flat output to a certain A/F ration, then has it's output go quickly to the other end of saturation, where it's flat as well. So the narrow really only sends "rich" or "lean" but isn't too good about telling how rich or how lean.
A wideband covers a much larger range of A/F ratios, so you can know how rich or how lean. Search on google to look for more information. The manufacturers web-sites will explain it all.

If you're still a bit concerned about A/F ratio (as I always seem to be), especially as it gets hotter and your recent custom tune no longer quite applies, the only way to check it is with a wide-band a/f meter.

Or go back to Hesco...

Spider,

The Wideband A/F Ratio is a great tuning tool, but requires another package to allow you to tune it like and Apexi S-AFC or other similar device. You can then log or display the Fuel mixture that will allow you to make changes in the ammount of fuel that you are delivering to your engine, thus optimizing performance. We are testing out the new Standalone Gauge unit by Inovative motorsports which is really one of the coolest ones that I have seen.

They alo have some tuning videos on their site. They discuss their LM-1 Sensor system, but the new Standalone unit is what I will be using.

http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/resources/lm101.php

Once done testing, I will have these units available for sale.

I went to the links and read. It looks like a diagosis tool, I am thinking it has finer resolution and with that info you can make more power.

Would you permanently install this in the car and feed the wideband info to the computer and would it then be able to make more power (perhaps oversimplification) Is the digital readout/controller device something you keep in the car to make on the fly adjustments as necessary?

Lastly, keeping the car out of over lean conditions is paramount to keeping your engine (I used to fly) so this, I think, is not to be taken lightly.

If you run an optimum fuel curve, you can make more power.

Spidey,
Its definately not something to be taken lightly and therefor not needed/recommended for the average consumer as the average consumer doesnt do their own tuning. The resolution that a wideband provides is useful only to your engine tuner. If you're interested in monitoring A/F as a safety precaution, I'd recommened a DEWES DEVICE. It allows you to monitor narrow band A/F in a much simpler, easier to read manner. It only works at WOT, but thats most likely all you're concerned about anyway.
