Any info on the TSI Turbo Kit for Cooper

I want to get the kit which is listed at coximports.com. It is the extreme turbo kit with all the goodies, but was hoping to find anybody who might have installed one already, or knows of a car with one in it. Any help would be great. BTW , I have a 2002 MC.

I, too, am looking for anyone with any experience putting a turbo on a MC. Concerns with thrashing the gearbox, braking drive axles, general reliability issues. This kit mentioned is one of the very few I've seen, and it looks like they're fleeing the market, rather than flooding it. There also doesn't seem to be any information available about this kit.

You also have kits from M7 (although it disappeared from the website) and SPI.

M7's turbo kit is not for sale, I tried to buy it once and it was only there to picque interests and Peter said there were too many issues he had to work out to make it worthwhile.

I was misled, the extreme kit is no longer available for the stock MC, too many space issues. But I did get the Superior kit which is decent but only has the T20 turbo in it. It is figured after tuning that I could get about 40-50 more HP. Not too bad for a basic bolt on. Anybody ever deal with adding a fuel computer to their Mini, like the greddy E-manage or the Apexi units out there? or would I be able to get an adjustable fuel regulator??

Thanks.

rvcullen, please keep us updated with your experiences with this kit! As discussed, there have been a lot of concerns with turbo kits on Coopers, but if the gain is only 40 - 50 HP, then this might not be as big a concern.

That would bring you up to the capabilities of a stock S, and probably wouldn't thrash the gearbox (so long as you're not stomping on the gas all the time). I know there's been discussion about whether or not the R65 could actually handle the torque of a stock S...

Also, please post the weight of this kit when you get it (don't just trust the UPS shipping weight: it's often over-estimated). One of the key advantages of the MC is the weight-savings over the S; I'd be interested if this kit doesn't add too much to the Cooper.
