I can't be certain, but the ones with the Honda Vtechs are approaching 200 bhp!!!

http://www.webbmotorsports.com/forum...topic.php?t=37

EDIT: I'm guessing that you mean the new MINI... As far as I know, that claim goes to our El  . The last dyno had his twincharged MCS putting down 281 whp. Welcome to NAM, BTW.

To get 200 bhp, or about 178 whp... There are several approaches I guess... One of the most popular is to go with an aftermkt:

intake
exhaust
pulley (SC reduction)
ECU

That should net you 3 grand extra as well

You will get plenty of input on that one!

I have used Peter of M7 and Randy of Webb Motorosports. Exceptional products and support...

I've also heard wonderful things of Eric at Helix! As someone said earlier, spend some time with the search button, and read, read, read...

Hi Jim,

I have added the head/cam and I'm adding a few other little things next week. Where did you do your dyno runs? Congrats on a great number.

As you made it a point to mention at the front wheels, what did you get at the rear ones?

"Slightly modified" is all you need.

I was concerned about having an adequate safe operating area with a/f ratio. I knew the car was pretty strong (well, maybe not up against the 250 hp big dogs), so I wasn't too concerned about the hp. Although it's nice to see in print.

I went to Balanced Performance, the guys that Grassroots Motorsports recommend. They're not too far away, in Sugar Hill, GA. 678-546-6133. Sharp outfit.

I am still slightly concerned about the a/f and engine longevity. Been thinking about getting the GIAC/Helix injectors for peace of mind with my 19% pulley.

I have the older Webb/Powerchip and the M7 injectors/throttle body. I'd give up the Webb ecu and sell the M7 injectors if I went the GIAC/Helix route. I know it sounds crazy around this bunch, but I'd give up 10 hp or so to have a nice fat a/f ratio...

Unfortunately, I can't get the 19% GIAC if I'm using revalved injectors.

So let's see the dyno sheet and a/f graph...

OK, here's the dyno sheet. Dyno was Dynojet.

Interestingly, he preferred to run a powerful fan directly into the intake scoop (and of course, across the bonnet), from about two feet in front of the car. Apparently, he didn't think the "bonnet-open" test reflected real world conditions.

I like that torque curve. 19% really makes a difference (duh)

Andy, what do you think of the a/f ratio, particularly between 2.5k and 3.5k and again at 5.2k to 5.8k?

The guys at Balanced Perfortmance thought that'd be ok for a naturally aspirated engine, but not so good, at least for the long term, for forced induction. What do you think?

a/f is within safe tolerances

it probably didn't have enough air being blown on the car causing it to get hot...(which they will) and cause your a/f to be leaner than normal. We witnessed this when breaking in my new pistons.

Jim,

I had mine done at Balanced Motorsports. I was the first Mini that they had done. We found the best numbers and temperature across the intercooler with the hood closed. With the hood open, the overall underhood tempertures were better, but the intercooler ran hotter, because the air was just running over the top of the intercooler and not forced through it. Since the hood is closed and there are myriad air entry points into the hood, fans will not be enough to really cool the engine bay. Since the numbers seemed better keeping the intercooler cooler than to keep the engine bay cooler, that is what we went with. Sorry I don't have the numbers anymore on what the temps were, I have since gotten rid of that Mini and have gotten a new one. I need to go over to Balanced to get my new JCW dynoed. In fact, I may just do that in the next week or so.

Jim, congrats on the great numbers. Thanks also for pointing out a dyno shop that I can use for my MINI (I'm not too far from Sugar Hill). I'm curious to see what the prevailing opinion will be about your a/f numbers. I always thought staying below 12.0 would be safest from a detonation point of view. Reading between the lines, sounds like you have the same thoughts. Tell us more!

What does Balanced charge for dyno runs? I'm down in Columbus, GA, but Sugar Hill isn't THAT far away. My car is completely stock but it might be nice to get a baseline for it prior to making any changes.
