$95.00 - three runs - you'll be there about an hour. You need to set an appointment, and be on time, cuz they may have the dyno scheduled heavily that day.

Nope, I said I was 196 at the wheels. I meant that I couldn't play with the guys who had 250 at the wheels..

Ah, ok

I got a bit excited there! 250 at the crank though is good going.

Frankly, I'd be surprised if it was more than 220 MAX at the crank, and that's using a 12% number.

And the hp number is just that - a number. Ultimately I've got to tighten the nut behind the wheel.

Still wanted Andy to chime in with his opinion of the a/f ratio, which is the number that's meaningful to me just now...

every now and then jlm gets read as jim by the astigmatic

I think the goal for reporting cranky hp is to figure the biggest number possible, right? Hells bells, i was mistakenly using a middle of the road 15% factor; I should have gone hog wild and used 20% I really have 270hp.

Jlm, can I use that 20% too?
WOW! That gives me 252 BHP.

That's why I couldn't figure why everybody kept saying 250!

Maybe the fact that today I hit the big 60 is somehow related to eyesight issues? nahhh...

The only time I dyno'd, I got 193 at the wheels. Since then, a Webb TB/Unichip/header has been added. I'm guessing 200+ at the wheels. With the Venom turned on...who knows

Actually it's only half that cost. To quote Eric from Helix's site:
"Sure. We have the Stage 1 kit, which includes the Helix/RDR intake, Helix 15% pulley, GIAC software, and Borla cat-back exhaust. The total cost is $1155.00 (plus tax, if you are in Pennsylvania, or pick it up from the shop). The total cost of the kit installed at our shop with parts, tax and labor is $1562.20. "

I'm no expert on A/F ratios, but to me yours looks pretty decent. It does look to have a slight plateau from about 5.2k-6k of around 12.5:1 but it doesn't look to be going excessively lean. Presumably due to having the rebored M7 injectors, your plot doesn't show any upward-movement after 6k.

FWIW, the rule of thumb from the Bosch Automotive handbook is that max power is created between 12.5 and 14.0:1 depending on engine design. Forced induction tuners tend to stay at the rich end of that (12.5) sometimes going even richer to avoid detonation.

Indeed, the savings could be that much, or even more if one went with MTH. Or, it could be less with other choices. There are several combinations and permutations for sure... Suffice it to say, the guy can hit 200 bhp for substantially less than $5k .

Ahhh, who needs to consider drivetrain loss when bragging about their ride? Hell, I just use the manufacturer claim at the crank and substitute it for the wheels. Then I consider the fact that it feels faster than what I think 168hp would be, and I ADD 20% off a butt dyno estimation. On a cool day, with a tail wind, and Mercury in retrograde I can easily make anywhere between 275 and 300 horsepower, bone stock. I can make over 320 when I add my hp and torque numbers together. Oh, proof? Um yeah...my brother took my dyno sheet with him when he moved to Canada. There, on a drunken binge, he would give it to a stripper named Lola in exchange for a lap dance. I would later find out that it died a terrible death in a freak origami accident. I'm still trying to get over the loss. In fact, it's a touchy subject and I don't want to talk about it anymore.

I think I saw your dyno sheet being used on this website!

Andy - That site is awesome. The letters remind me of something you would see on fatchicksinpartyhats.com.

El Diablito - Are you trying to break 300 at the dyno gtg on Sunday? I saw that your car was on DRS's front page.

Thanks guys! I needed some good humor.

Yeah... doing everything twice I've just stopped all the mods for now - waiting til the rest of the smoke clears.
