best OCC to use with AEM Intake and Strut Bar

Just bought an NM OCC, great piece of kit but the design simply does not fit with the AEM Intake (rubs against the plastic inlet pipe from the filter box) and especially with the Strutbar it makes it damn near impossible to unscrew the thing without taking the bar off and that’s just not going to work on a regular basis.

Anyone using an OCC with the AEM intake and Strut?

Alternatively, are there any other mounting points for an OCC in the N18 engine that I should consider?

Not a lot of room in the engine bay, especially with the AEM intake and strut bar. I have the same setup, and I'm also looking for a catch can. Curious what will be recommended...

Pain no? I got the NM unit because it’s baffled and I didn’t just want a cup to collect oil in lol. I got it to fit in the no specified location but man it’s a tight fit and I really don’t know if I could unscrew it. I didn’t finish the install just test fitted and didn’t use the firewall punch screw yet.

looks like maybe the BSH one is the best as you can mount it by the washer fluid tank. But if you’re installing a BOV like the forge unit that could be an issue as well.

Hmm

I know I know n14 and no strut with DDM intake. I almost didn’t do the intake because I did the OCC first. I loosen the hose clamps and remove OCC from firewall completely when I empty. Before with stock box I could unscrew and empty just the can.

I was hoping you would post a pic. I’m looking at strut bars, after brakes, the AEM was on the list but nope not anymore. All though it does look like it would still fit in the same spot, just would be up against the firewall.

it looks tight but right by the 90 degree bend in intake by the firewall.

Ok so I think the bsh is the way to go, just saw this image on Amazon for the strut bar and you can clearly see the occ mounted to that factory mounting point.

I know n14 so there might be a tiny bit more clearance with the AEM piping

sorry if the picture is enormous

That BSH unit is nice looking, bit expensive for me though. I got their lower engine mount off of their website for cheaper than anywhere else, for what it’s worth.

yes it does, if moved to the left 1-2 inches it probably wouldnt be too bad at all, still looks like the bar has to come of to drain though.

Yeah I'm a sucker for pretty strut bars so that's not going anywhere. I can shove the NM one in there too, but the firewall mounting point hardware welded to the box makes it tougher.

What interests me is if the bsh units bottom drain vent can be used to drain the entire can because then unscrewing it isn't really an issue

Ok so I got the can in. It's tight but I can get my hand around the can to unscrew it when I need to empty it.

Ideal? Nah. But hey it's tight packaging and that's just life

Definitely tight in there. Hopefully, since you have an N18, you won't have to empty it too often. I would try to shorten the hoses a little bit, make them look a little neater...

oh definitely going to trim once i permanently install. the guys at NM got back and told me that they've seen them installed behind the driver headlight near the fresh air inlet. I'll give it a gander eventually, maybe install everything else if I can convince someone to lend me a carlift in nyc!

Glad you made it work. The NM can is a nice kit.

I can't see it fitting by the fresh air inlet, unless that inlet tube is removed...

i think there is even less room in there.

It looks nice, i might be able to benefit from those hoses, those 90 degree bends could be handy.

Went for a 200 mile drive, all's well.

I tried looking at the fresh air inlet and a smaller universal can could fit there but not this NM one. I'm gonna obviously keep this NM unit now but whenever I can head upstate to my parents (when it's safe!) I'll probably take an angle grinder to the firewall support. it's really not needed with how tight the thing is and I'll weld a few handles around it so I can more easily grab it and unscrew it

I cant post a picture right now but..
I have it on the same spot as all of you...I have a Saiku Mitchi OCC with AEM N18 intake+Aem strut bar.!
In order to empty it when you want and because i dont want to unscrew the whole OCC i put a manual "valve" with a silicone hose that goes under the car so when you need to empty it just open the valve and close it after it drains and you done!!!

did you just put a T-junction in the outlet hose or did you drill into the can?

a T Junction could work nicely though I'm wondering about gravity

I guess I'm going to run into the same issue with clearance on my install. Also what's the black box resting on your fuse box?

The power module worked fine when I was bone stock, but as I installed all my performance bits it started throwing the car into limp mode weekly. Got so bad I had to unplug it

so it’s either the only thing you do for performance or save your 350$ towards a tune or something else.
