Aem Intake questions...

Although I am not really looking into power mods the ATM intake really does catch my eye due to the fact that the kit allows us to use our otherwise useless hood scoop to induct cold air onto the filter, I really do care more about my cars handling then power but I would like to make use of that hood scoop, due to the design it looks like you can't use a strut tower bar if you have that intake. Does anyone run this intake? if so can you fit a strut bar while using this intake? Thank you.

I have the intake. It also uses the factory duct that goes next to the head light. It's definitely true cold air. As far as the strut brace. Not gonna work. The duct under the hood will hit it.

Yes, you can use a strut brace, it just has to be the one specifically made to work with the AEM CAI. This one:

Everytime I look for the AEM CAI online I find website which only sell them for '07-'10 MCS models... is there a problem with fitting these intakes to the N18? Would I need to take off the updated cosmetic engine cover in order to install the heat shield or something?

Make sure you get the right versions. The strut brace I linked to is for '11-'13, and there are different versions of the cai intake depending on if you have the N14 or the N18 engine. Originally, I was on the fence about what to get and another NAM member who is admittedly much more knowledgeable than me with Minis, recommended them. Both install easily, and have excellent quality.
