Drivetrain 380cc Injector Tune Without the injectors
380cc Injector Tune Without the injectors
Okay so, I'm young and cant afford the big nice jcw 380cc injectors. I bought some el cheapo ones for a different car people said would work. They were 20 bucks. Well they worked for a good 5 months until I about killed myself fixing a stupid injector that got stuck open and caught my valve cover on fire. Anyways, I'm back on stock injectors but still have a tune for 380cc. My car is pretty decently modified, CAI, Cam, 17%pulley and a couple other things. I'm not sure what the current duty cycle is for the 330 injectors but what do you guys recommend I do? What will happen if i keep the 330's on even tho its tuned for 380? Any input is appreciated!!

Will run lean, mean less power and can melt pistons on full gas.If you have the ECU file I can restore to original 330cc injectors. If you have also original car file, just buy a cheap MPPS cable and write original back .If don't have original, buy MPPS cable, read the ECU file send to me and I'll send you file restaured as original file.Free charge.
MPPS is cheap tool ,can buy one from Ebay for 50$.

Not to step on Adrian's post, but you can purchase 380cc injectors meant for a Volvo and they are perfect replacements. Check out FCP Euro for the injectors. I think I paid $110 for all four. You will also need to buy adaptors because the Volvo plugs are different than the MINI harness. You can get those on eBay for around $15.
Best injectors replacement is Bosch Injectors 380cc part number 0280156063, equip the BAM engines from Audi TT 225HP, Seat Leon Cupra ,same engine. This injectors are plug and play, no need adapters, easy to replace , 20 minutes work in your garage. Can buy from ebay a set of four remanufactured for 60$.I equipped a few cars with these injectors, they all work perfectly.Same dimensions as original Siemens 380cc injectors. Here injectors data.

Simply limit your RPM to 5000 or less with heavy throttle until you can afford another set of 380's.
You really only have to worry about being too lean at WOT in the higher RPM's with that variation in injector size.
Your everyday normal driving is done in closed loop in the ECU, closed loop will adapt just fine, it's the open loop high RPM WOT where the tune for the 380's will come into play, and what you have to be careful of.

In my opinion, based on similar experiences, even in closed loop, Lambda sensor can't adjust the injected fuel amount,Short fuel Trims will be at higher values, bigger than 20%.
Look at your exhaust gas smell at idle, will know the difference.Lean mixture.

But most likely he'll tell you it's fine and the 13% change in fuel delivery won't be that big of a deal. (Except possibly at WOT)
He'll know for sure.
One of the reasons I'm not super concerned with going back is that when I put the 380's in, I lost my pops and bangs :( Now that I put the stock ons back in, it's back to scaring kids and setting of car alarms out the exaust
