Drivetrain catch can catch
onasled,
I hope i didn't come off the wrong way, just trying to figure out if there is another reason that you got oil in your IC. I had asked when you installed the CC and i guess the larger IC along with miles. This was me, just trying to determine if there may have been a lot of oil in the SC and other parts before the install of the CC, which then got blown into the IC after your track day. I know you said you cleaned them out regularly but was there track days done between cleanings? I haven't experienced oil going through the CC then back to the intake hose.
Brass or steel wool will work just fine as the stuff on the inside.
Please, lets not thread jack here, but how did we offend you?
We felt it was nessecary to alert consumers they may not have recieved the ALTA products they believed they were purchasing?

Jeff,
No, I didn't take your post the wrong way. I appreciated your input and certainly didn't think you were coming off in any bad way. I have always respected Alta and have nothing but great things to say about you. If you do a search of my threads you will find many times that I praised you guys.
I agree that this tread should not go off topic, and even though I would like to address the question, I don’t think it would be helpful for some if the topic were to be rehashed here. It was wrong of me to start, so I think it’s best for me to stop.

This is the same with ALta as well....quality.

And what a FANTASTIC HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT it was? And why it's no longer available on m7's site?

You seem to be in need of a hug or something.

Randy, give the guy a sticker or something will ya!
And actually it wasn't that far off-topic as zm had suggested that one pays good money for quality provided by the vendor in question here....as the ebay version is going for 1/3 the price of m7's version (and also Alta's) so I was simply questioning that statement.
Something you probably do not know...Ebay's version is not designed for the Mini. It is far too long and needs to be accurately cut/fitted. No installation parts nor instructions included.

Evidently neither does the M7 version:
And I'd bet you $1 that I could find a place to install the Ebay version without any modification.
And besides there are quite a few different versions of an oil catch can available on ebay, with all different shapes and sizes......
Are you affiliated with M7 or do you just like defending vendors that blatantly rip people off?

I have recently installed an Alta kit on a friends so I'm familiar with how Alta had theirs installed. I'm assuming(hate using that term)that it installs the same way but I'm not sure where to install the can itself. Can someone kindly fill in the blank on where it goes and how to mount it CORRECTLY.

Peter pays me $400 for evertime I defend him. Please keep it coming:smile:

And look here: another product from M7 without written instructions. What are y'all paying for here?
And I wasn't looking for more evidence in case anyone is wondering, I just happened to come across this thread while checking out the "performance Mods:: Drivetrain" forum area.....

$400? You must be a great deal maker.....

I think you should.
I already installed the 400cc injectors: No Problem; and then GIAC programa for the 19% pulley. Very smooth.
When I installed the throttle body, I encountered some problems.
1. The fitting for the vacuum hose that goes under the intercooler is directed to the transmission in you TB, instead of the engine, as in the OEM TB. I had to make a trip to Pep Boy to buy a longer hose, and I am not satisfied with that.
2. No space to work. Be patience.
Any other way of doing it? Did I missed some parts?

Maybe you should have asked M7 questions similar to the ones below about the Basma Plooster (as well as some of their other bogus products):

1/ What was the reason you decided that the mini needed assistance in this area?
2/ What are the before and after deltas preferably at each 10 mph increment within oh lets say 5 different ambient ranges?
3/ What were the before and after DYNO numbers , SAE of course?
4/ what is the altitude of the dyno shop
5/ Could you provide the names and addresses of 5 witnesses unknown to you before the test?
6/ How will this affect my warranty?
7/ What long term testing have you done and how will this shorten or lengthen the life of my car?
8/ How much is your markup and what will you do with the profits?
9/ Could you please post your resume so we can be sure you know what you are doing?
10/ How will the added weight to the car affect the handling characteristics of the car?
11/ Will there be any additional brake wear do to the added weight? If so how much?
12/ How will the added performance off set the added weight in my 1/4 mile times?
13/ Can I get the hoses in green ? If not why not?
14/ What is your warranty and return policy ?
15/ When will you be shipping these ? Why is it taking so long ??
That should do it for now , if you can answer these to my satisfaction I may consider buying it . Welcome to the new NAM

They're not interested in helping. This is the reason AGS threads can't get anywhere. You can talk about anything M7 sells and they'll find a way to bash it. Back to my boycott...

Thanks!
I got the M7 catch can in the mail this week and the product and the service that M7 provided is excellent. My catch can came with 2 different sets of instructions. I'm happy with it and look forward to installing it.
