2-4 HP with Alta Silicone Intake Hose?

Is it true?

If you purchased the Alta Intake without the optional Alta Hose than this is the your chance to complete the set. Replaces the factory ribbed hose to provide smoother air flow along with a slightly larger inner diameter. When combined with a larger Throttle Body this hose is reported to have gains around 2-4 HP. This hose will also most likely also fit a number of other intakes on the market like the Madness, PILO MINI Mania, Pipercross and the ProMINI intake as well as the stock airbox. This is not guaranteed, but from what we've seen it is highly likely that it will fit because it simply replaces the stock hose which is a common part that is used in all other intakes. This will definately NOT fit the KN typhoon intake. Cooper S only. Available in Blue and Red

I have the hose and no, it doesn't add another 2-4hp (actually, it might, but 2-4 hp is impossible to measure, even on a dyno).

Do you have the larger throttle body?

I haven't seen any credible evidence that the hose does anything to improve airflow compared to stock. In fact, the stock hose has a recess in the lip so that the inside of the hose blends smoothly into the throttle body. The Alta hose has no such recess, and therefore the air coming in runs into a perpendicular wall on the throttle body that measures about 1 square inch.

Some time ago, Randy told me that, unless you have a larger TB, the Alta hose is of no benefit, except to lighten your wallet.

I don't care much of the 2-4 HP, but I like to have the look. I'm thinking to add just a hose to my BMP CAI....or just get the whole new Alta system.

I do not have the throttle body, although it is on my to-do list (pretty far down however).
