R56 N14 Piston Ring Suggestions

I'm looking for some info on piston rings for my 09 MCS rebuild. I'm not doing anything fancy to the engine. Just a simple rebuild for my daughter's Mini.

What brand/vendor would you suggest and why?

Try OEM rings but use non-synthetic oil for break-in, then switch back to full synthetic oil. If going for oversize pistons, get the piston mfgr rings. I've found that using non-synthetic oil for break-in allows the rings to seat properly, and stop excessive oil burning --- less than 1 qt used every 5K oil change. If cylinder bore isn't true round, or there's lotsa miles on the engine, you should really consider a slight over-bore, new pistons and rings. Pistons that're 0.050mm oversize are readily available for most of the aftermarket suppliers.
