We broke the Subaru ones when they came out and went to Quaife and never had an issue.

Interesting.... I need to do more research... Hard to swallow $1k or better especially when I don't really push the car or track it. Just want it to be able to hook up when I mash the pedal... (yes, the other bits will be addressed but I want to take advantage that the "boss" wants it to be as "sticky" to the road as the WRX...) Just need to be able to justify the expense.

Doing the install yourself? The labor to install thrtlsd he the biggest expense, and then you might as well do a clutch too while you are there, and rear main and crank sensor...

I do all my own work. I'm planning on pulling the whole engine assembly. Much easier. And simply going through everything. Clutch is at 130k with zero issues...
Might do one anyway. No real leaks to speak of but if I'm there I may go ahead and do it all.

Right now, I'm just trying to narrow down the expenses and if I can get an LSD that does the job without having to be the top of the line super, ultra, mega...-I'm fine with that.
However, I don't want to install some junk that will break after a few spirited runs (should I be so inclined)

I've done 3 so far, but I never take the engine out I always use "mod mini" videos on it, with a engine support brace it's pretty easy I can do it in a weekend now. Having a lift also helps a lot but I'm not sure it would change my opinion much on full remove vs trans only. I guess I need to try a full swap once to see how it is.

We use MOD mini as well. Last time took 2 hours to pull everything. No lift, just jack stands. Next time I think we can do in 1 hour. There's no rust. Everything moves freely. Having engine out affords better opportunity to inspect, clean and touch everything. I have another car to use in the interim and can take my time once it's all out. Been shopping for odds and ends a little at a time so I can have it wrapped up rather quickly. I hate having to wait on parts...

FYI: Looks like the Ford Torsen for our Getrag 6sp may still be available for $598 + shipping from one source:

Like the Quaife, this is a helical gear LSD, and both are based on the original licensed Gleason patents I believe.

That said, I have a Quaife sitting in the garage, waiting to replace the OEM Mini GKN LSD that's currently in my car.

Good Catch. Sadly, they're out of stock. They referred me to another dealer who said it's discontinued....
Oh well...At least we tried.
