ha! sorry..mine is 3500 RPM
I'm asking in the general everyday driving. Not in the situation that you're trying to pass anyone. I just want to get the idea if I'm pushing too hard or I'm too soft.
When I was driving my old car VW Golf Gti. I'm really use to shift the gears at 3000 RPM.
Now with MINI, 3000 RPM is not that high to me. I would say 3500-4000 is my shifting ranges for me (on normal driving).
What about yours?

I have an 05 MCS and in my case, during daily/regular driving, I shift up around 3-3.5k .... with the gearing on the 05s, it seems that you need to be shifting more frequently as opposed to my 03 MC..... either way, it makes for some fun driving...... :smile:

Depends
If I want better fuel economy (and my wife is in the MINI
)
Then I shift about 2500 to 3000 rpm.
If I want to do some spirited driving (and my kids are in the MINI
)
Then I shift about 3500 to 4500 rpm.
If I'm autocrossing or on the track (with only my Schroth harness to keep me company
)
Then I shift above 5500 rpm.
All three methods works just fine but I'm sure my mpg numbers are not the best at the track.

Where do I sign up? I want a real sceamer, besides my girl friend
LMAO
On my commute I try and change up below 4k, but it's pretty hard. These cars are very free revving. Most of the time I find myself changing up arounf 5.5k, when I'm feeling frisky it's right before the injection cutoff at around 7100, my S/W cuts off at 7,200.
IMHO, hitting the redline is not a bad thing. These cars are designed to be high revving, I don't believe it's doing any damage at all. This is an oversquare engine with lightweight valve gear, the valves are going to start bouncing and you'll lose power long before you actually hurt anything.

and i thought my mileage sux!
3-4k typically... sometimes below and sometimes above... recently though i find myself just upshifting later...
before the 15% was installed on my car i had it shifting at 3.5k

Here's what I do for normal acceleration:
1-2: 3800-4000rpm
2-3: 3500-3800rpm
and so on.
My car has the stock pully and therefore the spoolup is
very slow.
