Has anyone ever Lengthened the hose from the reservoir? I hate whenever I go to do a oil change I have to pull it to the side and bend that fitting on the bottom of the reservoir. I feel like if i replaced the hose with one a few inches longer everything would ve good and i wouldnt put Strain on that fitting. Has anyone done this?
I just had to replace the hose that has the hard line from the turbo, a T fitting, and the line to the coolant reservoir because the plastic T fitting broke and started leaking coolant. Why MINI thinks that plastic belongs anywhere in the engine compartment is a mystery to me. The line to the coolant tank is 19mm ID if I remember correctly. If you lengthen it be careful to purge any air out.

Where did you buy the coolant parts from and would you mind posting a pic of what you did. Thanks!!!
I have the N18 engine, the N14 engine has different coolant hoses, so make sure you are getting the right part. Check realoem.com, see our forum vendors to buy the right part.
For the N18, the hose I am talking about is MINI part 11537645832 and looks like this:
Here is where it broke:
And here is the busted part - a cheap plastic T that carries 220 degree coolant inside a hot engine compartment and gets stressed every time you do an oil change.
I spent a lot of time trying to figure out a way to create the equivalent part out of AN fittings but couldn't come up with a good solution.
