Muffler Replacement for Stock 05 MINI Copper S

Would be extremely grateful to hear any recommendations for a muffler replacement for my 05 MINI S. It will be 10 years old in 4 and half months with 105,000 on the odometer. All original equipment and never been modded.

I have noticed that only the right side is showing serious rot, yet the left side and all other components are in great shape and no where near the condition to replace.

Is it feasible to find just that right side muffler and pay someone to attach it or is it wiser just to replace everything from the catalytic converter back and be done with it?

If replacement is the way to go, any brands that anyone can recommend?

Thanks for all your help in advance!

Check out our Stratmosphere system. It will fit great, makes good sound with no drone, is 20lbs lighter than the stock one, all stainless and includes hangers.
http://www.waymotorworks.com/stratmo...3-hardtop.html

We also have FREE SHIPPING on it till Monday.

As the R53's are getting older we are seeing more and more of them rotted out so this is a great chance to update and get and upgrade.

Was wondering if anyone other than a vendor has any advice for my muffler situation?

Thanks!

Have you banged on it...litterly!!
Both mufflers are stainless steel....with a mild steel heatshield that rusts and can fall off...
Mine was pretty bad looking...but under the rusty heatshield, it was still shiny, bright metal..
Sure, even stainless will corrode, and if it is leaking, FIX IT...but don't just look and say...its got chunks of rust flaking off...replace it...unless you WANT TOO....

PS the stratosphere/milteck clone is one of the best (IMO) systems around!! Not cheap, but no drone and a nice sound...no rasp or buzz like the cheap ones....

Muffler Replacement for 05 MCS

Hi Buggy, I have just gone through this with my 05 MCS. I went with a one muffler with the resonator, after hearing on-line with everyone's opinions and claims. The system was great but it droned from 2800 rpm on. I think the engineers at MINI were right you need the two muffler system to cut out the droning. My recourse was to put in a glass pack muffler to cut out the droning. I would recommend the WMW Stratmosphere System based upon the sound I have heard after I purchased my unit. I wish I had purchased it.

Hi - Just did this switch-out this year on my 2003. I picked the Borla touring (not the louder one) but it is still a little louder than I would have liked for daily driver. I shopped around and found it for about $820 with shipping.

I paid $704.00 for the system and $153.00 to install.

The amount of loudness I can tolerate? Well since I can only hear out my right ear only, quite a lot! That's why I went with the non resonated version.

Here is a vid of the new sound. Love it!!
