clutch kit with flywhell

Hi I have a slipping oem clutch and I m looking to upgrade to a better setup with a single mass flywhell. the clutch kit need to hold good power .

I nave seen the valeo clutch kit with flywhell but I don t know how many torque it can hold???

I have seen the os giken , but it is a crazy price.

Is there any other option Under the 1000$ price that can hold good power like 250 to 300 ftlbs?

What the valeo clutch kit can hold ? Thank you

Francis

I can't answer the Valeo-specific questions, but as to the other clutch kits here are some results from a quick search here on the forum:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-question.html

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...lutch-kit.html

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-flywheel.html

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...6-s-turbo.html

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...wheel-kit.html

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...discounts.html

and plenty of others with discussions if you want to get more info/opinions on whichever. So mostly Valeo, OS Giken, Clutch Masters, JM Turbo, and SPEC.

I have allready make search but the result was not really good. The os giken seem to be a good setup for holding the power but what it is on the long term daily driven car?

There is a gt twin plate offer on detroittuned http://www.detroittuned.com/os-giken-clutch-kit/ does the twin plate if more street friendly? will it last longer than the single plate???

another option that i m looking is a fx200 or fx300 with alluminium flywheel

for what I understand on the sigle plate option is the higher torque it hold the less longer will be the life of the clutch in a street use as it don t like to slip, is it right?

alot of guy report that oem is the best option, does the valeo kit with flywheel is as good or better than the oem?

my power focus is around 250whp, so I need something that will be good for more than 100 000km and I want a sigle mass flywheel .

Any opinion on this

Thank you

I've been happy with my clutchmasters setup. Not sure how much it will hold but they have a few options.

New Member because of clutch problems

I'm seeing some problems with my clutch as well (2007 MCS). That post with all the links (Aelwulf's) was pretty helpful.

Because of the limited availability of SMF and the cost, I won't be going that route.

I'm not sure if I'm interpreting everything exactly right, so time for some questions.

I'm thinking of getting the Sachs DMF (on Partsgeek; SKU W0133-1829787; a damn good deal at $484 ). This is a direct fit replacement / OEM style flywheel, correct? I also read somewhere that Sachs is or was a factory supplier for DMFs, is that right?

ECSTuning mentioned that the Valeo clutch kit is really the same as the JCW clutch. Does anyone have the part number or SKU for that so I can make sure I'm getting the right clutch kit? I'm seeing PN 29290411277 but want to be sure.

I realize these are just reassurance questions, but there seems to be a lot of confusion out there in webland about the differences between different MCS models and years.

ive ordered the valeo, I have yet to install yet, and my plans are 250 whp as well, unless you wanna wait like 6 months for me to tell you how it is, I think your in the same boat I am. valeo is supposed to be similar to the stock, and the stock holds the 250

so I think ill be ok

For what I have reed , the Valeo kit seem to have trouble holding around 210whp.

I have contact jm turbo cooper and is stage 2 or stage 3 look a good option. he belive that is clutch will last as long as the bearing or pressure plate will last, but it is more pricey$$$. I still have to look at the clutch master around the same price to make a choise for me valeo is not good enought from what I have reed so far .

The Stage 3 Clutch and Solid Steel Flywheel Kit will last a long time. I had my clutch replace by the dealer and wish I had known about this single mass flywheel kit with Stage 3 Kevlar clutch kit. A member had this installed recently and noted much more clamping force, it will probably last 2-3x as long as the stock clutch kit and dual mass flywheel. These dual mass flywheels come apart after 50K miles, there junk!

I finaly go with the jmtc clutch kit stage 3 with smf.

the os giken = to expensive and some report to slip
competition clutch= low mileage, no good review
veleo replacement with flywhell = low power only, no proof of high power rating
spec = noting good in the review,
clutch master= some report stage 4 to be good but maybe too agressive for street
I wish I made the best choise.

It should engage sooner than the stock clutch system. Are you going for the aluminum or steel flywheel? I recommend the steal flywheel, a bit quieter.

I ask for the light steel flywheel , but some trouble to get it fast make me switch to alluminium. I got a fidenza in the past , and it was really good, I belive this one will be no different.

So Fart Arric , really give a good service and comunication

Thank you

I'm in a similar situation myself, and I'm most likely going with the JMTC steel flywheel. I use the car a lot in heavy traffic so I'm not sure which type of clutch to go with. I have a 2009 MCS (65k miles) and I don't plan on doing much in the way of performance mods to the drivetrain, maybe some light handling upgrades later on if I keep it. I certainly like the idea of a more durable clutch material but not if I stall the damn thing ten times a day. (I've only been driving stick 4 months.)

I've seen info in other threads / sites suggesting other parts I should get ahead of time, including:

Clutch Fork
Slave Cylinder
Shaft Sleeve
Control Arm Bushings

Are there any other wear items I need to look into?

Any more thoughts one aftermarket performance clutch like the Clutch masters x400 4 or 6 puck
I do not trust any product from JMTC based on me personal experience with his products.

Well looks like my boat has come in...
Picked my car up from dealer after getting high pressure fuel pump replaced and have 9 unexplained miles on it. Go to pass a car on the highway this morning and my rpms zing to 5k.
Glad I left it with dealer and stock tune in.......
So now the hunt for clutch and LSD starts since it's coming sooner than expected.
And to top it off , yesterday I paid for my Owens turbo so more money more money ...lol

I'm not wanting a 10-20k clutch either, 50k and it has it's performance and works good on the street I'm all in...
I guess a spreadsheet of some kind with pros and cons is needed.
